Unpacking ended up being quite the hit for developer Witch Beam. The zen puzzler seemed to really resonate with both critics and gamers alike, leading to major sales, a ton of accolades, and a bright future for the dev team. Today we’ve learned that that future won’t include a sequel.

When a hit game comes about, you can almost always count on a sequel being in the works. Witch Beam is bucking that trend, instead moving onto their new title, Tempopo. In an interview with Eurogamer, Witch Beam explained why they won’t be revisiting Unpacking for a follow-up.

“We had like a 10-second conversation about it. We were like, ‘We don’t want to do this. We thought it was a complete game that stands on its own.”

Played it for free on game pass. Good achievement points. The game itself is a little weird as it progresses. I’d recommend Tetris over this.
