Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition includes a lot of tweaks, adjustments and new features not found in the original GameCube release from 20 years ago. One of those additions happens to be a tribute to a fellow fallen game dev at Ubisoft’s studios.

If you go wandering around Hillys in Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition, you’ll eventually happen upon a bench. That bench has a bouquet of flowers resting on it alongside an envelope with the letter E. This is a new addition to the game, and it’s meant as a tribute to Emil Morel, a Ubisoft Montpellier developer passed away last year at the age of 40.

Eurogamer contacted Ubisoft for confirmation on the Easter egg being a tribute to Morel, and the studio indeed confirmed. Morel worked as part of Ubisoft Montreal from 2009, lending a hand to the creation of Rayman Legends. Morel was also the creative director for Beyond Good & Evil 2, so hopefully we’ll see even more of the man and his work in that follow-up.
