While there was a tiny bit of chatter about a rumored Nintendo Direct on June 15th, 2022, that date came and went without anything from Nintendo. That’s when focus shifted over to a much more believable rumor about a Nintendo Direct coming on June 29th, 2022. While Nintendo still hasn’t said anything about a Direct, their upcoming maintenance schedule certainly provides a glimmer of hope.

The My Nintendo Store in the UK will be undergoing planned maintenance Monday, June 27th to Wednesday June 29th. This might seem like no big deal at first, but My Nintendo Store maintenance has actually been an indicator in the past of Nintendo Direct announcements.

Wondering why a store going down for maintenance would point to a Nintendo Direct? Nintendo usually takes these online stores down prior to Directs in order to add in the necessary pages and data for games that are announced during Nintendo Directs. The Big N obviously wants people to be able to make pre-orders as soon as a Direct is over, and they can’t do that if the games discussed don’t have pages!

Again, not concrete proof of a Direct by any means, but it’s certainly something to think about. With this exact kind of maintenance leading to Direct reveals in the past, let’s hope it’s once again an indicator of things to come.

Is it just the UK store? Wouldn’t it make sense that other region stores would undergo the same maintenance or whatever?

I feel like Pokemon, Splatoon and Xenoblade are the big games we're getting this year and a direct wouldn't be necessary. I have no interest in any of those games, but if Nintendo pumped out some Mario Party DLC I'll be a happy camper
