Say it ain't so, Guy!
Return to Monkey Island is the sixth installment in the long-running franchise, but it’s been quite some time since we’ve seen the series. The last time we enjoyed any Monkey business was back in 2009 with the Tales of Monkey Island spin-off. 12 longs years since Monkey Island has graced our presence with a new outing, which is why we’re so happy the series is returning on Switch.
While it’s great to see Monkey Island return, fans might want to make sure they savor this latest installment. According to the official website for Return to Monkey Island, this could very well be the last game in the series.
If you skim through the official website, you’ll eventually land on text that states the following:
Now that doesn’t mean there couldn’t be more spin-offs for Monkey Island down the line, but it certainly seems like this will be the official end of the franchise. That definitely makes Return to Monkey Island’s impending release that much more bittersweet.
I did enjoy Escape from Monkey Island a lot so forgive me if I don’t erase that from my canon.
Probably too much hassle to deal with Disney to let them make another one.
So we're ignoring Curse and Escape of Monkey Island? Curse is like the pinnacle and has the best story and humor imo...
