Switch first-party software sales reach second-highest level for a first quarter since Switch launch
The hits keep coming!
Even 5 years into the Switch’s lifespan, Nintendo is still seeing reason to celebrate the system. While drops in sales for Q1 2023 were expected when compared to the pandemic-era Q1 2022, it seems that first party game sales are still extremely strong.
Nintendo noted that overall sell-through of first-party software increased year-on-year to reach the second-highest level for a first quarter since the launch of Switch. That’s a seriously impressive achievement considering last year to this year. That said, first party games in Q1 2023 couldn’t keep pace with the first quarter of 2021, which was fueled by strong sales of Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
With major games like Pokémon Scarlet/Violet, Splatoon 3, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope and many others coming in 2022, there’s no doubt Switch will continue to see multi-million software sales in the months to come.
At this rate...is there a reason to get the next gen console from Nintendo?
If the next wave of new games from franchises like Xenoblade Chronicles, Mario Kart and Zelda are exclusive launch window titles for said next gen console, then yes.
Well that's kinda obvious but do we really...really need those right now with the next gen console?
