Here’s something we know as fact. Epic is always teasing what’s next for Fortnite through sly in-game content. A slogan here, an icon there, and a bunch of other minor stuff that always gets fans talking. That’s exactly what’s going on with Fortnite’s latest update, and one feature in particular has caught the attention of Lord of the Rings fans.

The above sand castle might look like nothing special to you, but it made Lord of the Rings fans go crazy. According to Tolkien aficionados, this sandcastle shares a ton of similarities to the castle of Helm’s Deep.

Artwork of Helm’s Deep can be seen above, and when you compare the two images to each other, there do seem to be a healthy amount of areas that line up. I’m no expert when it comes to Lord of the Rings, but even I can see just how similar the two designs are.

Fueling speculation further is the fact that Amazon is releasing their The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power TV show very soon. Their adaptation launches September 2nd, 2022, and everyone knows just how much Epic loves to release collaborative content in Fortnite. A Lord of the Rings/Fortnite tie-in to promote The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power seems too perfect of an opportunity for either company to pass up.

For now, we’ll have to keep an eye on dataminers to see if they can dig up any other teases or leaks to cement this speculation. We’ll make sure to keep an eye out!
