Orchestral music project Pokémon Reorchestrated announced plans today to hold a Kickstarter fundraiser to record a 30-minute album of Pokémon arrangements for live string ensemble.

Double Team! is a collaborative effort between Pokémon Reorchestrated’s Braxton “Skotein” Burks and Eric Buchholz, director of the former Zelda Reorchestrated project. Each will arrange a single track from each generation of the Pokémon franchise, with music from the latest games Pokémon X and Y lingering as possibilities.

The $18,000 fundraiser goal will be used to hire and record five string musicians at Studio X in Seattle, Washington toward the end of November. If the goal is surpassed, additional funds will be used to increase the size of the string ensemble. The Kickstarter fundraiser will last for 21 days, until Friday, November 1, 2013.

Double Team! is not officially associated with The Pokémon Company, Nintendo, or any other affiliates. The album will be licensed through Joypad Records, an independent record label based in San Francisco, California, and sold via Loudr, iTunes, and physical albums. It is expected to launch by the end of 2013.
