Super Mario Maker makes you unlock creator content

There's your proof right there, straight from Nintendo. As the picture readers, some content is going to be locked away before you can use it. We have no word on how content is unlocked or just what is available at the start of the game.

I'm gonna say it's the amiibo costumes (forgot the official name) that aren't necessarily tied to the amiibo (since they can be unlocked with that 100 level thing)

But then again I don't know

It's kind of neat that they would make a game out of a game-maker... I'm sure some will be upset about it, but I think it's neat anyway. The only problem, which coulllld be a good thing, is that all users will have roughly the same type of levels at the beginning, but maybe that'll encourage people to be a little more thoughtful about how they use their pieces. Sort of like how in Minecraft, the alpha and beta had only a few building blocks to play with, and gradually more updates included more pieces, and people at first had to focus more on improving structure than materials.

I like that approach in design. Mainly because like any other discipline it's more effective when you know the basics and then build up to more options. It also a good incentive for progression I suppose.

Did Little Big Planet also did this, or did that one gave you all from the start?

LBP had everything locked in little plastic balls hidden in the premade levels, and you could put capsules to unlock stuff for others in your levels if you had them unlocked, so many peeps made very easy full of unlock levels...

Well, it is a game. I'd like to actually play and unlock some of the important stuff.

Not a completely bad thing, having more usable pieces is even more satisfying if you unlocked it.

I think this is a good move. One of the success about Nintendo games is that they build up on skills from previous levels. So by having some content locked, it allows users to learn to use certain tools before having to take on other tools. Thus allowing better content.

Oh... And LBP does this too.

Sounds good to me. Gives more incentive to play some of those 100 created levels assuming that's how you unlock things.

I'm cool with this. Actually, I think I'll enjoy the experience more.

I just wanna know of there really are more Objects/Enemies not actually shown off yet. ^^ So many enemies I wanna see (Cactie, those Fire Ball things that jumps and grows bigger, etc).

This is something I wasn't expecting, but I like the idea.

When you have less and get more over time, you learn more about the basics.

Kind of like... the Smash Bros. Demo in a way. We only got those 5 characters to play around with, but it was nice to get a feel for them then get more eventually. Sames goes for the DLC characters.

It's also why I like how Splatoon's been rolling out its content [and modes].

i.e. for the later, the ante has been upped with every successive new mode [Tower Control can be nuts already, but Rainmaker is gonna be even moreso!]

From what I heard, they'll only have two stages available at any time, which will switch up every few hours.

(Yes, this comment is parody.)

Wonder if this means there's more content we haven't seen yet.
