In 2017, we plan to close the Nintendo DSi Shop, which has been available on the Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DSi XL systems since 2009. We sincerely thank our loyal customers for supporting the Nintendo DSi Shop, and wish to ensure they can continue to enjoy Nintendo DSiWare.

If you have Nintendo DSi Points to spend, Nintendo DSiWare you want to re-download or Nintendo DSiWare you’d like to transfer from a Nintendo DSi/Nintendo DSi XL system to a Nintendo 3DS family system, you may want to do so at your earliest convenience, while the service is still available.

Note that even after the Nintendo DSi Shop closes, most Nintendo DSiWare will continue to be sold in Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS family systems.

had to close sometime. im surprised it was still open

ok so, if I purchased dsi games from the eshop, would I be always able to re download them at a later date ? until the eshop close at least ? talking about four swords, mario mini
I do admit it's ridiculous that I've yet to buy the other two games I want for it. gosh the 3ds was out in 2011!

Yes, this is possible since only the DSi Shop will close but the DSi-games in the eShop will remain!

It begins. Is your SD corrupted? TOUGH LUCK kid, you lose the games FOREVER.

...and we are expected to keep buying digital games now?

Xbox Live Indie Games is being shutdown later this year as well, and PlayStation Mobile was terminated just last year. At this rate, it's only a matter of time till the Wii Shop Channel and PlayStation Minis are taken offline. I wish companies would have some sort of end-of-service blowout sale, but they don't seem to care about matters of preservation and archiving.

Does this mean that after the 30th of September we can only buy DSiware content if we've added points beforehand?

Also, how do DSiWare games look on a 3DS?

From the couple that I have on my 3DS, they look ok to me.

Thanks for the reply. I was mostly concerned because some DS games look kind of crummy on a 3DS and once you've transferred DSiWare content, there's no reversing that decision. To transfer, or not to transfer; that is the question.

Depends on your definition of "crummy". They look tolerable to me, personally.
