AMD earnings call points to various game platforms launching in 2016

Coming from the AMD earnings call...

In our EESC segment, we had record shipments of our semi-custom SoCs powering the Playstation 4 and Xbox One game consoles. Demand for game consoles looks strong for 2016 and we remain on track to generate additional revenue from new semi-custom business in the second half of 2016. Game consoles -- we see units going up 2016 to 2015. We've also said in the enterprise embedded and semi-custom segment that we will be ramping some new design revenue in the second half of 2016. We have new products being introduced in both the businesses with the new design wins in the second half on the semi-custom side.

Looks like there's more than one project going on here, so that could fit nicely with both the rumored PS4K and the NX. I guess we'll find out later this year!

Too soon for PS4K..

I think we could be in for a double surprise with NX this year.

Roll on E3!

Well, it is rumoured that the PS 4.5 is due this year.

And the NX is rumoured to be the hybrid thing.

Triple fun?

Too soon how? 4K version of PS4 is confirmed to release this year.

Sony hasn't announced anything yet.

I'm wondering if there are still people that think Nintendo won't off the Wii U by the end of the year.

Yes. You guys are only focusing on half the picture which is hardware sales. Nintendo is selling a lot of software on the Wii U. I don't see them stopping that this year. Besides, the Legend of Zelda is still scheduled to release on the Wii U and Pikmin 4 is also scheduled to release on the Wii U. Yeah, I know you guys want those titles moved to the NX. However, the small user base that the NX will have will not make those titles sale as well as they will on the Wii U. Furthermore, Nintendo sticks to a five year cycle with their home console. Check for yourself.

Finally, Nothing in this investors briefing points to consoles releasing in the second half of 2016. Custom chips are used in smart phones and tablets. This could mean that AMD is supplying chips for Windows based smart phones and surface tablets.

Pikmin 4 is also scheduled to release on the Wii U

Lol, don't bet on it. I wish though.
