Japan - Gamers pick Mewtwo as the 'most handsome' Pokemon

View post on imgur.com

The one battle that never ends with Pokemon fans is the battle over which one is most handsome. I'm joking, of course...but that didn't stop Japanese gamers from voting in a poll to show which Pokemon they believed to be most handsome. Believe it or not, Mewtwo came out the winner as handsomest Pokemon. You can see the top 20 list below.

1 Mewtwo

2 Lugia

3 Charizard

4 Lucario

5 Suicune

6 Scyther

7 Ninetails

8 Arcanine

9 Darkrai

10 Machamp

11 Scizor

12 Garchomp

13 Gyarados

14 Absol

15 Houndoom

16 Rayquaza

17 Groudon

18 Latios

19 Fearow

20 Zoroark

The top choice was the scientifically-created Mewtwo. Voters found his appearance stylish and his top-tier fighting prowess as nothing to scoff at.

That Mewtwo style and fighting power winning people over
Best pkmn still has it

edit: Honestly. seems more like a coolest, most badass Pokemon poll . Wouldn't surprise me if it's a translation issue

The absence of Gardevoir is surprising as well as the inclusion of Fearow.

Other sites have referred it as a hunk list. I think the intention were masculine looking pokemon.

Then what about Suicune and Ninetails?

From what I looked it seems to be the most attractive male looking pokemon. Maybe some people like more lean or elegant masculine features. I don't know, maybe in Japan those two have masculine voices in the anime.

japan, stop, no.

that's not an adjective you apply to cartoon animals.

I think there's been a history of humanity associating human characteristics to animals, from greek fables and mythology (hahaha that ol' kinky Zeus).

Also perhaps loving something too much can be bad for your health. :p

Yes Lugia is second~ Though I do find the lack of Articuno depressing but expected. If it were me, Articuno and/or Ho-Oh would be the top pick.

I wonder if those asked considered the possible mega forms for some of these Pokemon in their reasoning for why they like Mewtwo a lot?

I dont understand a majority of these choices.

And I cant believe a beefcake like machamp isnt the winner.

It's probably a cultural difference in what "handsome" is.

I'm actually surprised that "Blastoise in a bow tie" didn't make the list.

This is the problem with direct translation. I barely know any Japanese, but I believe the sentiment was supposed to be a masculine form of coolness, not attractiveness.

Kinda fixed the list to make more sense to this region, maybe:

1 Mewtwo
2 Arcanine
3 Ninetails
4 Lucario
5 Absol
6 Charizard
7 Scyther
8 Suicune
9 Houndoom
10 Garchomp
11 Scizor
12 Zoroark
13 Latios
14 Lugia
15 Machamp
16 Rayquaza
17 Groudon
18 Gyarados
19 Fearow
20 Darkrai

Where am I off?
Don't even know why I did this. . .

Also Mewtwo was genetically designed to be a superior pokemon. He can also change his form to his will, so it's no surprise. Or, maybe he used his psychic powers to get into the number one spot, though I don't think he'd need to do that.

I'm actually surprised that "Blastoise in a bow tie" didn't make the list.

Place between Lucario and Absol on the fixed list, remove Darkrai.
That sound about right?

Can't it be both?
Mewtwo would still be on the top of that list.
