I feel there must be a connection to the original Paper Mario topping the charts and the rage train that everyone is on regarding the Colour Splash game.

The game was on sale for dirt cheap for a while so I think that's why most folks grabbed it. That and the N64 game is arguably the best of the four we have so far.

Really? You believe that the N64 was the best? Could you let us know why? I curious because i felt like the TTYD improved upon almost everything the original felt flat on

Besides the fact that I feel it has a fun story and a fair balance, I mostly like it a lot mainly due to it trying hard to be its own entity, since it was originally Super Mario RPG 2 (Which would have been a sequel to a game I personally find super dull and ugly), which shows since the visuals which have aged better than most N64 titles and the soundtrack is decent but more memorable than the majority of SMRPG (Where the only themes I can remember right away is the first area theme and the FFIV boss theme). TTYD, while folks praise it high doesn't seem to do much in terms of gameplay or variety to make it feel anything besides more of the same, which is why I skipped it both back during my Paper Mario playthroughs back in the day and today due to the insane price tag.

Then again, I have no doubt it would be 100000x times better than the atrocity of Super Paper Mario or Sticker star from what I played of both of those titles (SPM being my first PM game I rented from Blockbuster around launch, which I despised in every possible fashion and never want to touch it again, which I probably would for the franchise if it wasn't for the Wii VC version of Paper Mario giving me a good time, and Sticker Star from a Best-buy demo around that game's launch that bored me out of my mind). I wouldn't mind a HD remaster of TTYD or a Gamecube Retail download on Codename NX so I could see if more of the same is a good thing for that game, but honestly Paper Mario has been that odd franchise where only the first game appeals to me in terms of replaying it and having a good time. Color splash looks beautiful but the gameplay seems a bit slow so I'm a bit on the fence on that game.

People took that interview to heart I see
