Magician Lord reconfirmed for release on Switch next week (Neo Geo)

Hub page here (thanks TheDreamingHawk!)

MAGICIAN LORD is a side-scrolling action game released by SNK in 1990 in Japan.

This fantasy-action game was one of the launch titles for NEOGEO.

Control the magician Elta on a journey to save the world from Gal-Agiese, who came back to life once again.

The ACA NEOGEO series has faithfully reproduced many classic NEOGEO masterpieces.

Players can change various game settings such as game difficulty, and also reproduce the atmosphere of arcade display settings at that time. Players can also compete against each other from all over the world with their high scores*.

Please enjoy the masterpieces that built a generation of video games.

It's so hard, those stupid flying enemies...I might get it

I have yet to dip in on any of the Neo Geo titles in Switch. Any you particularly recommend?

Check out Metal Slug or if you are into Beat em Ups Garou - Mark of the Wolves, though its a pain to play Fighting games on Switch without a Pro Controller at least.

  • my favorites so far are Sengoku
  • (brawler) and the shooters Aero Fighters and Shock Troopers

    (Updated 1 time)

Magician Lord is considered to be one of the best games on the system as it actually plays like a full-featured game, unlike the score chasers and SF ripoffs that would plague the system in the later years, (even the more creative fighters that I do love on the NG, like Garou and KOF 2000 are score chasers with little depth outside of clearing every character story.) so you should probably get this when it comes out next week. The two fighting games I mentioned earlier are also good picks along with Waku Waku 7, and Shock Troopers 2nd Squad is another strong recommendation. (not the first one though as the music and levels are a lot more boring, but it's a good co-op bout)

Speaking of Co-Op, if you have a friend that comes over often like I do then it's worth buying every single co-op game on the Switch from the NG since it's fun for an afternoon play session, which ends up being worth the price of admission alone. I got Sengoku, ST1, (despite finding it average compared to the sequel) ALPHA Mission II, NAM 1975 and Neo Turf Masters solely to have fun with my friend. I also aim to get Aero Fighters, Zed Blade and Super Sidekicks

This version is a lot easier as you can continue from where you died as this is the MVS version.

Great tips, guys! Sounds like I should at least try a few. That one next week sounds like a great place to start. My number one player two is my older son, and he's four haha But he's great and he loves games.
