Sonic the Hedgehog film set for release on Nov. 15, 2019

Mario isn't the only big-name gaming icon to have a feature film in the works. We've known about the Sonic the Hedgehog movie for quite some time now, but had no idea when it would launch. Now we have confirmation that the live-action/CG movie is set to premiere on Nov. 15, 2019. I cannot wait to see what happens with this project.

Oh what joy...wonder how the fan fiction will end up for this one.

I am sorry but I wish this didn't exist or at least would come out after Mario. Not fair or reasonable of me, I know. But it's how I feel.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I am really curious why you feel this way

Because it will be out a year before the Mario film and provide the perception to some that the Mario film is copying off the release of the Sonic film. Really, Sonic was created in the first place to copy the success of Mario, and while I don't hold that against the little blue guy, I am feeling very protective of this upcoming Super Mario movie and want to help it. I don't see how a Sonic movie so rushed that it's greenlit after Mario movie announcement but comes out a year earlier is going to be that great, and if it's bad it'll leave a bad taste in people's mouths about game movies.

Okay, I see what you mean. As for the copying thing, that is something that is sadly unavoidable, I'm afraid. But it's also something that won't matter if the Mario movie will be awesome. People won't care if it's copied (regardless of the validity of that assumption) if the movie is good.

As for leaving a bad taste in people's mouth... Movie adaptations of video games are already notoriously bad. There is nothing the Sonic movie can do to make it worse

You make me feel better, friend! Thanks for talking to me and getting me to see I was being foolish instead of getting (justifiably) mad at my tone and leaving me to stew in my misplaced displeasure.

AWESOME. Days before my birthday!
