We don't think of the Legend of Zelda series as being yearly. We usually wait anywhere from 4-7 years for a new, mainline installment in the franchise. There are some spin-off titles here and there, but nothing too major. Could Nintendo be looking to keep the Zelda series a bit more fresh in the minds of fans? According to Eurogamer's Tom Phillips, that's indeed the case. Here's what Phillips had to say in a recent feature.

As I understand it, Nintendo is keen to have a Zelda game launch on Switch every year.

I guess when you look at Switch so far, that's technically been true. We had Breath of the Wild at launch back in March 2017, and then we got Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition in May of 2018. I guess we'll have to see what happens in 2019 to know if this rumor has some truth to it!
