Mortal Kombat 11 producer talks Switch version, development team, and more

We found out Mortal Kombat 11 was coming to Switch right from the debut trailer, but we didn't know much about who was developing or how it would turn out. Now some light has been shed on that topic, thanks to a GameRevolution interview with Trevor Traub, producer on Mortal Kombat 11. In the snippet below, Traub talks about who's developing, and some concessions that will be made.

I actually really like the Switch build. I like the Joy-Con controller more than I thought. We’re trying to reach as many people as we possibly can. So we’re going to take that opportunity. There are special geometry reductions that happen to make it work on the Switch. The end product is actually really fantastic. We’re actually not developing it in house; it’s being developed by Shiver Studios. They’re developing it at the same time as us so it’s sort of a co-development. There is no lead SKU. I can’t wait because I play on Xbox but I will have the Switch version too for practice.

This is very good news. Instead of porting it later like would have happened with most games. We all know by now that the Switch isn't that easy to port to, but if these guys are helping each other out the game can truly be good on Switch. Then again, this might be the reason the Switch version seems to be delayed.

I'll be waiting for footage of all versions before I decide though.

Sure am glad they trusted the development of the massive AAA game to the talented and experienced veteran developers of hit titles such as "Scribblenauts Showdown"...
