RUMOR - Using Piranha Plant in Smash Bros. Ultimate's All-Star mode may corrupt save data

Oh boy, this is going to be a major headache for both players and Nintendo if true. Multiple reports are coming in stating that using Piranha Plant in All-Star mode is leading to corrupted save data. Furthermore, this issue is causing some players to have to reinstall the entire game. Just to be safe for now, hang back on using Piranha Plant in All-Star mode!

Thanks to Kolma and Andreslop24 for the heads up!

I wouldn't call this a rumor. It happened with Mewtwo on Smash Wii U as well.

If you don't have confirmation it's still a rumor.

Someone on twitter replied to RMC saying it wasn't with a picture of their CSS, with only 8 characters now

I suppose that this is a better time than ever to exercise that cloud back-up usage, yeah?

This seems only be the case for downloaded copies of the game. Physical versions seem to be unaffected. I tried it and my (physical) save didn't get corrupted.

That’s weird. You’d think the code for save games would work the same, despite the medium in which the game data is saved on. Game saves are written in the system memory regardless of whether the game data is on cartridge, on-board memory or an SD card.

Maybe there’s something different with the game data itself depending on whether it’s a physical or eShop version.

That would be my guess. There might be a connection between the two. Games are quite complex pieces of software.

He’s just too Ultimate for mere mortals!

Good for me to stay away from any kind of DLC.
