On our most recent podcast episode, I went on a bit of a mini-rant about how some analysts seem to be doing all they can to make Nintendo look bad after their most recent financial report. That goes along with a few outlets that decided to spin things negatively and run with titles that only mention Nintendo's decision to revise their full-year Switch sales forecast. I believed doing so was disingenuous, and completely ignored the extremely positive results Nintendo has achieved in this fiscal year. Thankfully another analyst is coming forward to try and set the record straight.

Ace Research Institute analyst Hideki Yasuda wants to clear the air and explain what's really going on with Nintendo. He wants everyone to know that the Switch is actually selling extremely well, despite what some sensationalist headlines and out-of-touch analysts claim. Yasuda-san states that with 14.49 million Switch units shipped in the first three quarters of the fiscal year and 32.28 million units shipped in the console’s lifetime, the Switch is killing it.

The nail in the misconception coffin comes from the comparison to PS4, a platform I think we'd all agree has done phenomenally well. Looking at shipments from the eighth quarter of each console’s lifetime, we see Switch shipments are higher than PS4 by three million units.

If there's an analyst, investor, or games industry member out there who's claiming Nintendo's downgrade in full-year sales estimates shows that Switch isn't selling well, they'll have to follow-up by saying PS4 sold even worse. I'm thinking there won't be too many people willing to make a statement like that.
