Nintendo has 'nothing new to announce' when it comes to first-party 3DS titles

As many of us know, the 3DS is pretty much dead. There's been a couple games here or there, but releases are extremely sporadic, and there's very rarely anything of note. Most publishers have long-since moved on from the platform. Now it seems Nintendo might be doing the same.

Just two days ago, Nintendo said they would "continue to leverage the 3DS' rich software library to appeal to consumers purchasing game hardware for the first time, while continuing to drive sales of evergreen titles that leverage its hardware install base." Notice how there's no mention of new titles in there from Nintendo? That wasn't a mistake or omission. Here's what a Nintendo spokesperson had to say when asked about first-party content for the platform moving forward.

“We have nothing new to announce regarding first-party software for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. We can confirm that new software is coming from third-party publishers.”

We have Persona Q2 coming somewhat soon, and then...who knows? It seems Nintendo isn't working on anything, or at the very least, they're being very quiet about any plans going forward.
