While the Wii was wildly successful, the revolutionary system has certainly seen better days. Official sales numbers have been released from Sony for their second-quarter earnings report, and PlayStation 4 was revealed to be currently sitting at 102.8 million units sold worldwide. This pushes the Wii one further down on the ranks, placing it in fourth on the best selling home consoles list. Sony dominates the top 3 positions, with PS1 in third (102.49 million), PS4 in second (102.8 million), and PS2 in first (155 million). The Wii is still ahead of the Sony PlayStation 3, however! Wii is placed at an honorable fourth place, with 101.63 million sold, while PS3 is at 87.4 million.

Nintendo continues to be the lead seller in handheld consoles, with Game Boy and Nintendo DS still being ahead of PlayStation 4 in sales. Will the Nintendo Switch be able to pass the sales beast that is PS4? With its unique portable/console hybrid feature, we'll have to wait to find out!
