Every once in awhile, we catch word of a Switch scheme going on in Japan. One of those is going on right now, and while everything is legal, it's certainly a bit slimy. Let's walk you through how some Japanese Switch buyers are making big money right now.

In Japan, customers can use a payment system called auPAY to make purchases. The auPAY system has a 20% cashback promotion available until Feb. 10th, 2020, and that deal is being gamed by some customers. That means every Switch purchased would net a customer 6,000 yen back.

Along with that, website Kaitori Rudeya is currently buying sizable Switch allotments for 37,000 yen for the gray option, and 40,500 yen for the neon option. That would be 5,000 and 8,500 yen above the normal asking price. Kaitori Rudeya is doing this because they can sell the Switch for higher prices due to shortages related to the caronavirus.

Altogether, people selling these Switch units could make up to 14,500 yen with the auPAY and Kaitori Rudeya deals, which would equal $132 per Switch in profit. These same customers are snatching up Ring Fit Adventure and running the same deal, which nets them 23,000 yen from Kaitori Rudeya along with the 20% cashback from auPAY.
