Masahiro Sakurai is no stranger to sequels. He's created multiple Kirby games, numerous Smash Bros. installments, and brought back the Kid Icarus series. One of the projects that Sakurai worked on was a spin-off title for Kirby called Kirby's Air Ride. Fans have been clamoring for a sequel for years now, but it never came to be. In this week's Famitsu, the question of a sequel comes up again.

Could a sequel to Kirby's Air Ride ever happen? Rather than address the idea directly, Sakurai instead offers up his thoughts on how sequels come about. Whether this means anything or not for a potential Kirby's Air Ride 2 remains to be seen.

“Many great games have sequels, and knowing when to release sequels takes some know-how regarding games’ maturities. It’s difficult to deliver on the images that people have in mind for sequels.”
