Earlier today, Masahiro Sakurai noted that he would be working on Smash Bros. Ultimate from home, as a state of emergency has been called in TOKYO and six other prefectures. That state of emergency has lead to Nintendo TOKYO shuttering for the time being, as the Parco department store building Nintendo TOKYO is located in will be shutting down as well.

Nintendo TOKYO was already taking measures to ensure customers were safe from coronavirus. They were doing extra cleanings, limiting the amount of people in-store, and lessened their hours of operation. This latest step will obviously go a lot further in keeping people safe.
