U.S. House of Reps member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and she's looking to visit islands

People from all walks of life are playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Regular joes like you and me, celebrities like Danny Trejo and Brie Larson, and now we can add U.S. House of Reps member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to that list.

Ocasio-Cortez took to Twitter to share that she's now in possession of a Switch and a copy of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Following that, she's looking to visit islands to say hi to some people, leave a note or two on some bulletin boards, and just see what the game has to offer in general.

If you want to open up your gates to Ocasio-Cortez or learn more about what she's doing with the game, you can check out here tweets here.

I’ll bet you anything someone will find a way to get upset that people do people things, including the fact that some enjoy the social aspect of animal crossing in times like this.

Meh, even though her leadership has been very questionable at best, she's free to enjoy animal crossing as much as anyone else.

I bet she doesn't have any cows on her island. Don't want to pollute the air with cow farts.

What does not wanting global warming to get worse have to do with cow farts? She literally just wanted more regulations, not a cow ban lmao

Not looking to debate or anything, but early concepts of the plan looked into minimizing "cow emissions". I just thought the concept was funny.

I thought it was a funny joke.

Don't want to get political or anything, but there seems to be a good portion of the population that believes our only choices are extreme one way or extreme the other way... as if a balanced middle option doesn't exist/isn't possible/isn't what "the other side" really wants...

I recently learned it isn't the farts but the belching what causes the most emissions. I suppose it kinda makes sense with how they can be chewing for hours their food.

This game is such a megahit that everyone's playing it but me it seems, lol. Still, having enjoyed online in City Folk, I can vouch it's a very suitable way to spend time with friends, which is what's making me on the fence on buying NH since I don't like the cut content, but want a social tool...

whether you agree with her politics or not this is pretty cool.

I think it speaks very well about Animal Crossing: New Horizons that people from all across the political spectrum are playing it. It's a common ground, something that is unfortunately in short supply in U.S. politics right now.

I don't have anything against this specific person (IDK much about American politics in general) but I am curious in principle about all the comments about ignoring a politician's politics if they consume the same media.

Like is there an upper limit to how bad a politician can be before "We bought the same videogame" stops being meaningful?

Why not? She has plenty of time on her hands while they refuse to convene the house of representatives sitting there collecting 180 grand a year while people are losing their livelihoods. The perfect escape during such a tough situation for her.
