Strange Animal Crossing: New Horizons glitch causes a creepy silhouette on the horizon

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a wonderful, calming experience for players to relax with. People can escape their day-to-day worries and struggles to sink away into a whimsical, peaceful world for a few hours during the week. That is, until the glitch above happens...

One player saw what they believed to be a boat silhouette just over the horizon of their island, so they decided to run towards it. As they got closer and closer, the silhouette began to stretch into the air on what appeared to be stilt-like legs. Then, as they got even closer still, the silhouette disappeared.

The player who spotted this, Nutblack, swears that they don't employ hacks, and they have no clue as to what this is. That leaves a glitch as an explanation, but what kind of glitch? Is it a character that glitched out and then faded away? Is it something else altogether? Will it ever show up again?! Let's see if one of you guys can't figure out what's going on here.
