Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire released for the Game Boy Advance on November 21st, 2002. Approaching the 18th anniversary of Generation III, an aquatic pet has found an unusual way to celebrate.

YouTuber -Mutekimaru Channel- has set up a controller using the power of motion tracking to allow for Betta fish to fully control and attempt to playthrough Pokémon Sapphire. Similar in vein to the "Twitch Plays" phenomenon, this little fella is taking things to a whole other level.

On September 30th, 2020 during the fish's 24/7 live-stream (which is still on-going), one colorful friend swimmingly found a previously undiscovered glitch within the game. Different Betta fish are rotated out of the tank every 12 hours for health reasons, and one named "Lala" has made history.

While the glitch itself isn't exactly remarkable, it's still a bug that went unnoticed by humans for almost two decades nonetheless. A specific order of movement can allow for boulders in the "Seafloor Cavern" puzzle to be duplicated, making it impossible to proceed without restarting. You can see the glitch for yourself at 1:56 in the video above.
