GN Version 5.0

Mortal Kombat is an extremely long-running franchise that has seen an extremely varied cast of characters over the years. Everyone from normal humans, fantastic creatures, and even cameos from cinema and other mediums have made the cut. That said, there's one character you'll likely never see join the game.

Ed Boon is the co-creator of the Mortal Kombat series, working on the franchise since day one. Even though there have been eleven installments so far, not counting spin-offs, we've never seen Ed Boon himself join the roster. In an interview with FestiGame, Boon squashes any hopes for that happening down the road.

"I think it would be when they asked 'Why don't you put Ed Boon as a fighter in the game?' I never understood why they would ask that. That's such a strange question. And I don't think that's ever going to happen either. I don't want people coming up with ways to cut my head off."
