Those are some sad numbers for FF7R.

Indeed. I remember FF XII clearing 1.7 million in its launch week.
At least it seems to have sold better outside Japan.
I wonder how well a numbered Final Fantasy would do on the Switch

I would have thought it'd do better in Japan. But then again I hear many people saying they want to wait for all the episodes... Like on the PS10... And the Japanese can be stubborn. Not as stubborn as me, but stubborn Smile They also did some changes that can turn off people. The nostalgc ones at least.

We'll have to look in to another dimension for that. I'm still hoping for an FF6 remake in the Octopath style, but....

I hope Square can make Parts 2 and 3 on the PS5 and finish the remake series there. Because the PS5 in Japan is going the route to sell much worse than the PS4 (the worst selling PS system in the region).

FF VI remade that way would be awesome!!

They already have most of the core done in the shape of characters, engine etc... It should work.

Odd that Japan is Switch territory these days.

I'm a dreamer. Can't help it. But would be damn great!

The thing that worries me is the open world aspect from the game past Midgard. I hope they reuse assets and that speeds up the process

Being a dreamer is great! :D
Keep at it

Same! Midgar worked good, but it was also a corridor game mostly which is one of my issues even. A very beutiful and and immersive corridor game with great boss fights =) No idea how they'll make the open world part work. Might not even be open world, just partially. They did a lot of good with 7R, but there re many "flaws" too, so I hope they have a better core idea with the next episode.

As long as it's fun, I'm in.
Heck, I'm still waiting a a nice price drop to get part 1 hehe

And while I have seen a lot of people mention flaws in the Remake (with no spoilers, thankfully), I've only played the original last year and without nostalgia goggles I can say it's a flawed game in many ways. So I'm sure I'll enjoy the remake Smile

It IS fun. Has great visuals, great VA (Japanese here of course*), some great humour, amazing music etc... But also a damn immersive atmosphere, which is a must in games like these. You can get sucked into the world big time. I got it pretty cheap with some other games (like Death Stranding anjd some Switch games ;) ) when GameStop here closed. Yeah, GS is history in Scandinavia.

I played FF7 back in 97, so I have them nostalgia glasses on good.

*On Friday I start my language course with a private teacher. Exoensiv, so good thing I have my huge....backlog.

I got Death Stranding with expiring credit card points hehe
We've never even had GameStop here

When the game campout in 97 I was 9 years old, almost 4 years away from starting to learn English and my only system for the foreseeable future was a Mega Drive. So no nostalgia for that here :P

Good for you, man :D
I've finished the A1 level of German last year and continue soldiering on through A2 by myself. My goal is to read the first Harry Potter novel by Christmas.

I got Death Stranding with expiring credit card points hehe

Well you better start gaming then, man! =) Curious to read more opinions, good or bad, about my big surprise favourite.

HAha. OK, I was 17 back then, so I can wear those glasses just fine. But I am contemplating to replay it...On my PS1, of course (even thoug I played it on my gaming PC back then).

I once read Nietzsche's "Der Antichrist" in German... That was time consuming and interesting......

I'll be going through Cyberpunk (35h in) and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. But then it's DS time Smile

I played it on a physical cartridge on a Nintendo system. The irony to end all ironies :P

That is not my cup of tea. What I do have are the first two Harry Potter books, a book on the same language level about dragons, and the Ocarina of Time manga (which I have zero recollection of buying)

Over 6.3 million copies sold in Japan alone is massive. Those calculations of Tom Nook surpassing Scrooge McDuck seem more believable now.

Physical copies, my friend ;)

ONly physicall? This game has surpassed 30 million sales by now... YIKES!

Yes, both Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing New Horizon have both surpassed that threshold this holiday season.
By how much we'll find out in the financial report

Financial report is in MArch, not?

Later this month or early in February they will announce the numbers for the Holiday season. In April they will have the numbers for the entire fiscal year

The Switch Lite sold 2,026,709 units, compared to 1,045,383 units sold in 2019, almost a 100% increase. When you consider that overall, Switch sales are 30% higher, it means that the Switch Lite is responsible for the hardware boost.
