Super Rare Games discusses how they pick games to release physically

A rare find

There's no shortage of boutique Switch retailers that focus on giving games physical releases, but there's no doubt Super Rare is among the biggest. The company has been going two years strong, and has put out a number of great physical titles on Switch.

In an interview with Nintendo Life Super Rare's George Perkins explains how the company goes about picking what games they want to help bring to the physical side of things.

"Our signing policy has become much more rigid than it was before. Back at the start, it was a very quick process where the only question was whether I liked the game or not. This quickly changed as we got more popular and I didn't feel that we couldn't just release genres and titles that I like! Now it's still very much down to whether I like the title, but now we spend a lot more time analysing each title and the demand it has for a physical version."

Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout producer thanks fans for supporting the game, and discusses lessons learned

Gamers Ryza up

Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout has been a phenomenal success for Koei Tecmo. The title has sold over 350k units in a short amount of time, making it the best-selling entry in the Atelier franchise so far. In an interview with Siliconera, producer Junzo Hosoi took a moment to thank fans for buying the game, and also talked about lessons learned during the game's development.

An extraordinary number of gamers played this game, and we are very grateful for this. The thing I learned the most from this game is that you need to keep challenging yourself.

In this game, we considered everything from scratch, from the theme to the production concept to the visual concept. Even within the company, there were various opinions about the scenario concept and use of the single season of summer.

But because we took on these challenges, I feel that as a result many gamers played this game.

And so, we will continue to create games without forgetting to always challenge things with a positive attitude.

Klaudia from Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout is getting a figurine

Move over, Ryza

Tokyo-based figure manufacturers Souyoku and Soulwing announced at the Hobby Maker Joint Product Exhibition 2020 that they're working on a figurine tied to Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout. Instead of Ryza, it's Klaudia Valentz who'll be getting the figurine treatment. This figurine will be 1/7 scale, but does not have a release date at this time.
