Tantei Bokumetsu - Second trailer and remaining detectives revealed

Characters

The Netherworld Detective (voiced by Hinata Tadokoro)

Detective Rank: 7th
Special Skill: Occult Investigation
Major Cases Solved: Werewolf Case

A veteran detective who specializes in cases with a strong sense of the occult. Aiming to solve the unsolved “Vampire Case,” he has acquired knowledge of the occult from all ages and countries. Whenever an incident occurs, he tends to assume it is “the work of the occult,” but when he is calm, his deductive skills are among the best in the Detective Alliance.

The Gourmet Detective (voiced by Akiko Nakagawa)

“I’ve just built up a tolerance to poison thanks to sampling so many ever since my childhood. Though I can’t eat potassium cyanide since it gives me mouth pain.”

Detective Rank: 9th
Special Skill: Supertaster
Major Cases Solved: Sea Turtle Soup Case

She possesses a “supertaste” far beyond the sense of smell and taste of an ordinary person, and can even sometimes guess the emotions of others. Since she has tried every taste imaginable since childhood, she is immune to various poisons and can even enjoy eating poisonous substances. Though usually a quiet person, she feels that murder depriving people of their freedom to eat is the greatest injustice, and is passionate about saving lives and condemning murderers.

The Suffering Detective (voiced by Rina Honizumi)

“It’s not some fantastical power… More like a horrible temperament that makes everyone around me miserable.”

Detective Rank: 14th
Special Skill: Temperament of a Great Detective
Major Cases Solved: Building Six Murder Case

An extremely negative, half-British and half-Japanese girl. Since childhood, she has had the peculiar tendency to attract phenomenon and objects that put her in danger, and is thus called “The Suffering Detective.” Due to her upbringing of being feared by others as an angel of death, she is unable to thoughtlessly make contact with another person. However, her ability to sense crises, which has allowed her to survive while constantly facing life-threatening danger, is a major asset in the investigation of dangerous cases.

Minute of Islands delayed indefinitely

"Due to major technical issues that occurred during the last round of testing."

Munich, Germany - March 3, 2021 - Publisher Mixtvision and developer Studio Fizbin announce that the release of the art- and story-driven puzzle-platformer Minute of Islands will be pushed to a later date.

Due to some major technical issues that occurred during the last round of testing, Minute of Islands’ multi-platform release, originally scheduled for March 18, 2021, has to be postponed. A new fixed release date for Minute of Islands can’t be given at the moment.

“We can’t wait to see our game out in the wild”, says Anjin Anhut, Game Director at Studio Fizbin, “but we want to ensure that everyone can enjoy it in the best possible condition. We hope players will soon be able to follow in our protagonist Mo’s footsteps across the vivid world of Minute of Islands and find out for themselves what makes the game so special.”

“While we very much regret having to push Minute of Islands’ release date, we are convinced that the extra time invested is in the players’ best interest. We are looking forward to releasing a unique game that combines stunning art direction with emotional storytelling to a long-lasting experience,” says Benjamin Feld, Publishing Director at Mixtvision.

Minute of Islands is an art- and story-driven puzzle platformer about Mo, a skilled tinkerer who lives with her family on a pastoral archipelago, once inhabited by an ancient race of inscrutable giants. Their otherworldly but vital machines must be kept going, or an ever-present threat will swallow all.

When the machines of the giants fail, and Mo’s world is on the brink of collapse, she sets out on a transformational journey across quaint, sprawling islands and through the alien labyrinths below them. Haunted by memories, Mo’s journey becomes a trip into the depths of her subconscious. And even with the powerful Omni Switch at her disposal, Mo may not have enough to fix the damage hidden beneath the surface...

Minute of Islands is coming for PC/Mac, PlayStation 4 (compatible with PlayStation 5), Xbox One (compatible with Xbox Series X/S) and Nintendo Switch.

Investigative Thriller Dry Drowning Launches for Switch in Europe

How dry I am

Dry Drowning made its way to Switch in North America a couple days back, but now it's Europe's chance to get in on the fun. The game is officially available on Switch in Europe as of today, and you can read a rundown of what it has to offer in the press release below.

VLG Publishing (a label owned by award-winning video game publisher, Leonardo Interactive) and developer Studio V are thrilled to announce that psychological investigative thriller Dry Drowning is out now for Nintendo Switch across Europe.. The game is also available now in North America. As a special launch bonus, between 2nd - 8th March fans can pick up a copy of Dry Drowning with a 35% discount from the Nintendo eShop. Following the launch of the acclaimed PC title, this captivating visual novel makes its handheld debut and features a completely overhauled English localisation language track and improvements to the user interface.

Dry Drowning is a visual novel that takes a stark look at a near-future dominated by dark forces in positions of power. The game immerses players into the world of Mordred Foley - a troubled private detective with a genuinely shady past - and his mission to lift the lid on a serial killer taking out targets in a dystopian future. Weighed down by a dark history of his own, Foley’s world is one gripped by tyranny, where the hunger for power at the top results in society sinking to the absolute bottom.

Dry Drowning differentiates itself from other visual novels with a script that doesn’t shy away from tackling themes such as racism, immigration, political extremism, and sexism and plays out in a multi-branching story made up of 150 different threads - a structure that places a heavy burden on every decision taken, and every line of dialogue uttered.

In a world where lying appears to be second nature to most, the ability to uncover the truth is worth its weight in gold. To aid Foley’s investigations, players have access to a unique ‘Living Nightmare’ system that highlights when a character is lying, helping to uncover a world where trusting anyone quickly becomes a dangerous game.

Dry Drowning features:

Choices that really matter: More than 150 story branches and three completely different endings.

Moral choices that impact character relationships and the game environment across a potential 20 hours of gameplay.

Elaborate clue system for investigations: Learn about the city of Nova Polemos and its citizens through dialogue, evidence, items, and character biographies.

Horror style interrogations: Use evidence to reconstruct cases, break people’s masks of deception, and uncover the truth with Dry Drowning’s “Living Nightmare” system.

Explore flashbacks and past cases to solve new ones.

Dynamic soundtrack with more than 40 dramatic and emotional tracks.

A balanced mix of Western and Eastern visual arts, casting light on a grim futuristic setting where cyberpunk and retro elements harmoniously coexist.

Dry Drowning is out now Across Europe for Nintendo Switch and can be purchased as a digital download from the Nintendo eShop with a limited time 35% discount.
