In Deponia, the world has degenerated into a vast garbage dump, in which the crotchety Rufus ekes out his sorry existence. Daedalic's 'Deponia' Out Now on Switch

Deponia day is here

HAMBURG, Germany – April 24, 2019 – Daedalic Entertainment has announced the release of multiple installments of the acclaimed Deponia adventure series across major gaming consoles. The original Deponia is now available on Nintendo Switch and Xbox One.

The classic game that started it all, the original Deponia is a hilarious story of adventure and romance set in a unique universe inspired by the works of Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett and Matt Groening. On a vast garbage dump world, Rufus, a good-for-nothing scoundrel, ekes out a sorry existence as part of the lowest social class, doomed to live among literal mountains of trash while dreaming of living with the rich in a floating city high above the clouds. But one day fate smiles on Rufus when an attractive young woman named Goal falls from the land above into one of his trash heaps. Deponia features clever point-and-click puzzles, bizarre characters, and lovingly realized art design brought to life with colorful comic style and hand-drawn HD resolution 2D graphics.

In addition, all four games in the Deponia series – the original Deponia, Chaos on Deponia, Goodbye Deponia and Deponia Doomsday – are now available to purchase together as part of the Deponia Collection on PlayStation®4 and Xbox One.

Deponia, Chaos on Deponia and Goodbye Deponia are rated T (Teen) by the ESRB. Deponia Doomsday is rated M (Mature) by the ESRB. All Deponia titles are rated PEGI 12.

Deponia now hitting Switch on April 24th, 2019

On the way after one-month delay

Deponia was originally slated to hit Switch on March 23rd, 2019, but ended up getting delayed at the last minute. The publisher said the game was now slated for an April 2019 release, but didn't say what day specifically. Thanks to Nintendo Europe, we now know the game is due out April 24th, 2019. It's likely the game will hit on that date in North America as well.

Deponia sees last-minute delay

Bumped back by a month

Deponia was supposed to hit Switch on March 23rd, 2019. That includes a retail and eShop release. Unfortunately the day came and went without any release. Developer Daedalic has taken to Twitter to announce that the game has been delayed by a month. They didn't give a specific release date, so I guess we'll just expect to see the game drop sometime in April 2019.

EU cover art round-up - Fimbul, Silence, and Deponia

We've got some EU cover art for three previously-announced Switch games. Check out the covers below, as well as refresher blurbs for each game.

Fimbul is a single-player comic-book, action adventure set in the final winter before Ragnarök, The Fimbul Winter. You play as an old berserk, travelling to Jötunheim to fulfill his destiny, battling Trolls and Jotuns to reclaim an ancient artifact that might, just might save Midgard.

War rages on. During an air raid, 16 year old Noah and his little sister Renie seek shelter in a bunker. There, not only are they protected from the deadly bombardment, but are also at the crossroads of a world between life and death: Silence. When Noah’s sister gets lost in Silence, he is forced to venture into this idyllic yet threatening world to find her.

Key Features:
Unique comic style with hand-drawn HD resolution 2D graphics

Bizarre characters and wacky humor

Challenging puzzles and hours of dialogue

Unique universe in the tradition of Douglas Adams (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy), Terry Pratchett (Discworld) and Matt Groening (The Simpsons, Futurama)

Another entry in the Deponia franchise was already rated for release on Switch, but this German USK listing shows that the first title is making its way to the platform as well. With there being 4 Deponia games altogether and 2 of them have been rated for Switch, it seems likely that the entire series will make its way over at some point.
