Risk of Rain 2 console content roadmap released

What's ahead?

The developers behind Risk of Rain 2 have put out a dev blog detailing the plans for console content moving forward. Along with the handy roadmap above, you can check out more details on content plans below.

Outlined below is our intended development plan for Content Updates (CU) going forward:

-Hopoo Games begins and develops the CU
-Submit to Gearbox QA once the CU is content locked
-Launch the CU on PC
-Address any Week 1 feedback + bugs with a small patch

After the first week is over and we’ve gathered all the information and feedback we can, we then share everything with PlayEveryWare for the consoles.

-Submit our Content Update + Week 1 Patch to PlayEveryWare
-PlayEveryWare takes over to begin porting the CU for Switch, Xbox One, and PS4
-Submit console version to QA
-Pass certification on Switch, Xbox One, and PS4
-Release on all consoles simultaneously

Our intent is to turn around Content Updates as soon as we can for consoles. Not only that, but consoles will get some features specific to its hardware that will also be included in the roadmap as it grows - ad hoc multiplayer for the Switch as an example. We’re also keeping our ears to the ground to make sure that the console version of the game is of the same quality as the PC version - please let us know if you run into any issues!

RUMOR - Risk of Rain's retail release in Europe might include both games on one game card

Double the fun?

Risk of Rain 1 and 2 are getting retail releases in Europe. This much we know for sure. What we're not 100% certain of is how you'll get both games. Insider info points to a great situation for customers, as it seems both Risk of Rain 1 and 2 will be available on the same game card. We'll try to get official word from the developers on this info.

The Loader Returns to Risk of Rain 2 With New Features in Skills 2.0 Update

The skills to pay the bills

Hopoo Games and Gearbox Publishing today released Skills 2.0 Update for Risk of Rain 2 on Steam Early Access. The Loader returns from the original Risk of Rain with the addition of a new stage, a new boss, the ability to earn new skills, and customize Survivor loadouts. Check out the new trailer and learn more about all of these features below.

The Loader fits the role of a bruiser that excels at grappling and up-close combat, including the following skills:

Passive: Scrap Barrier - The Loader is immune to fall damage. Striking enemies with the Loader’s gauntlets grants a temporary barrier.
Primary Fire: Knuckleboom - Swing at nearby enemies for 320% damage.
Secondary Fire: Grapple Fist - Fire your gauntlet forward, pulling you to the target.
Utility: Charged Gauntlet - Charge up a massive punch for 600%-2700% damage that sends you flying forward. Deals significantly more damage the faster you are moving.
Special: M551 Pylon - Throw a floating pylon that zaps up to 6 nearby enemies for 100% damage. Can be grappled.

New game features:

Skills 2.0 - Each Survivor has a new set of survivor-specific Challenges that, once completed, unlock new individual skills or skins for that respective Survivor. Mix and match skills and fine-tune a Survivor’s kit to perfection! More skills and skins will be added in future updates.
Siren’s Call - Dive into the mossy depths of Siren’s Call and challenge its unique boss.
New Items and Equipment - New dangerous additions made to the Survivors’ ever-growing library of tools of the trade.

Risk of Rain 2, developed by Hopoo Games and published by Gearbox Publishing, is a third-person roguelike shooter that earned over one million sales within its first month in Steam Early Access. Squad up with up to three friends in Risk of Rain 2 on Steam Early Access, Xbox One, PlayStation®4, and Nintendo Switch™ today.

GoNintendo Video - I want to like Risk of Rain 2, but one thing bothers me...

Risky business

I've been giving Risk or Rain 2 on Switch a shot, following its shadow drop last week. There's a lot to like here, and I can see why people loved the Early Access version so much. That said, there's one thing that keeps me from really enjoying myself.

If you like what you see, we'd love to have you subscribe!
