Germany reveals the best-selling titles of April 2020

Animal Crossing begins a monthly streak

The best-selling video games in Germany have been revealed for April 2020, and we've got the full charts here to show you. Unsurprisingly, Animal Crossing: New Horizons continues to be #1 for the second week in a row, while Final Fantasy VII Remake falls just behind it. Check out the full top 20 list below, featuring 11 titles published by Nintendo.

QubicGames hosting a 16th anniversary sale on the eShop, games up to 95% off, revenue helping to fight coronavirus

Alright, so here's the deal

Want to help fight coronavirus while also getting some great indie games in the process? Publisher QubicGames has got you covered! To celebrate the company's 16th anniversary, they'll be hosting a sale on the Nintendo Switch eShop where some titles will be up to 95% off.

100% of the revenue from purchases of Robonauts or Geki Yaba Runner Anniversary Edition (both available for $0.99 / 0.99€) will go towards helping to fight COVID-19. After buying one of these games (this also works if you've previously bought it before the sale) you'll unlock a plethora of more discounts on other QubicGames published titles. 20% of the revenue on purchases of these games will also help with fighting COVID-19. This sale will be running from April 29th to May 5th, 2020.

If you aren't interested in purchasing Robonauts or Geki Yaba Runner, a separate sale will be available from May 6th to May 26th, where the full list of games will go on sale for everyone. However, the discounts won't be as great as the initial offer.

The sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the most anticipated Switch game by Famitsu readers for the week of April 9th, 2020. This marks the 4th week in a row that the upcoming Zelda title takes the top spot, with 554 votes this week. Bayonetta 3 continues sitting just behind, with 432 votes. AC:NH drops down another position

Due to the recent release of Resident Evil 3 (and potential stock shortages), Animal Crossing: New Horizons has moved down one position since last week, now landing it in 4th place on the UK software sales charts. The full top 10 list for best selling (physical) software for the week ending in April 4th, 2020 can be seen below.

Resident Crossing: New Evil

Japanese hardware and software sales data for the week of March 30th, 2020 has officially been released. Surprising absolutely no one, Animal Crossing: New Horizons keeps its #1 sales position, selling another 423,367 copies. Slightly more shocking however, New Horizons actually sold more than Resident Evil 3 this week (189,490 copies), despite the remake only just launching on April 3rd. AC:NH has now already reached the 3 million physical copy milestone in Japan! One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 on the PS4 continues to outsell the Switch version, but only by about 1k copies this week. The Nintendo Switch family of systems continues to lead the hardware charts, with 154,640 more units moved between the Switch and Switch Lite. Almost twice as many Lite units were sold than the normal Switch, likely due to continued stock shortages. Check out the full top 10 list of software + all the hardware sales numbers below.

One Piece makes a debut

Another week of Japanese software and hardware sales data has been released, this time taking a look at units sold from March 23rd to March 29th, 2020. Unsurprisingly, Animal Crossing New Horizons takes the top spot, selling another 727,791 copies in its second week on the market (giving the island life-sim a sales total of 2,608,417 in Japan). The Switch version of One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 debuted this week with 61,571 copies, slightly underselling the PS4 version. The Nintendo Switch continues being the best selling weekly console, with another 282,561 units sold between the Switch and Switch Lite (which greatly outsold the regular Switch due to continued stock shortages). Japanese sales data has been fully released for the week of March 16th, 2020, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons is unsurprisingly a best-seller. Selling 1,880,626 copies in its launch week, a whopping 392,576 more Switch units were also sold during the games launch period, making it the highest selling console by far. 9/10 of the top games this week are Switch titles, but PS4 exclusive Nioh 2 took the #2 position with 26,140 more copies sold in its second week on the market. Gotta Sell 'Em All

Another week of Japanese hardware and software sales data has been released, and PS4 exclusive Nioh 2 received the highest amount of sales in its launch week. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX sold another 46,391 copies, placing it at #2 on the sales charts, and 8 out of the top 10 games this week are Switch versions or Switch exclusive releases. The Switch version of My Hero: One's Justice 2 debuted with 16.997 sold copies, placing it at #4. For hardware, the Nintendo Switch continues to be the best selling console, having sold another 57,274 more units between the Switch and Switch Lite. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX had a strong opening week, selling a total of 138,548 copies in Japan. Pokemon Sword and Shield takes the second sales position, with 20,679 more copies sold. The Nintendo Switch version of Persona 5 Scramble has been knocked off the top 10 list entirely, and Splatoon 2 makes a triumphant return at #9. As for hardware, Switch was the highest selling console as per usual, with 50,585 more units sold between the Switch and Switch lite.
