Another set of pics from the Resident Evil reboot film crop up

It certainly LOOKS the part!

All parties involved with the Resident Evil film series reboot have said that this project would stick much closer to the game series, and today's batch of pictures prove that in a big way. A number of locations are shown that are spot-on when compared to the games, even down to logo colors. Let's hope this attention to detail pays off in the final product!

RUMOR - Resident Evil 3: Cloud Version coming to Switch

Is a second Cloud outing for Resident Evil on the way?

Switch owners can enjoy the Cloud version of Control on Switch today, and a Cloud version of Hitman is on the way as well. It looks like those games might not be the only Cloud titles on the way to Switch, as an interesting discovery has been found by dataminers.

When you launch the Cloud version of Control on Switch, you'll get directed to the following site. Dataminers were quick to dig through the site to see what else they could find, which led to the discovery of the icon above.

Capcom hasn't announced Resident Evil 3: Cloud Version for Switch, but the move would make sense. Resident Evil 7 got a Cloud release in Japan, and it's likely Capcom wants to continue that move with other installments in the franchise. Now we just sit back and wait for them to confirm it!

Another look at Leon and Claire

A live-action reboot for the Resident Evil movie franchise is in the works, but it's not the only long-form piece of content in the works for the series. Capcom and Netflix are cooking up Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, an animated series that's set to debut sometime in 2021. In the tweet above, you can see two more stills from the series, which show off both Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield.

Former Resident Evil film director doesn't think he'd return to the franchise

Time to move on

Whether you love or hate the Resident Evil live-action film franchise, you can't argue with its success. The franchise, directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, saw multiple installments and was a big money-maker. Anderson is now shifting over to directing Monster Hunter, but would he be interested in dipping back into the Resident Evil side of things? During a virtual Comic-Con panel, Anderson shared his answer.

"After making six movies, 1.2 billion dollars, you know, the most successful video game adaptation ever, I'm very...I think we did our job. We did great work. We closed it up really nicely, and now we've launched into something brand new, which is Monster Hunter, and I'm very excited to kind of put my energy into energies into that."

Resident Evil movie reboot will stick much closer to the games, aiming for 2021 release

A more traditional adaptation

Capcom had a highly successful run with their Resident Evil live-action movie series, spawning six films from 2001 to 2006. Now Capcom and Constantin Film are diving back into the series once more for a fresh start.

The next live-action Resident Evil movie is going to start with a new writer-director, Johannes Roberts. Roberts will put together an origin story set in 1998 Raccoon City. The film is going to feature Kaya Scodelario (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) as Claire Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp) as Jill Valentine, Robbie Amell (Upload) as Chris Redfield, Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy) as Albert Wesker, Avan Jogia (Zombieland: Double Tap) as Leon S. Kennedy, and Neal McDonough (Yellowstone) as William Birkin. The plan is to release the movie sometime in 2021.

“With this movie, I really wanted to go back to the original first two games and re-create the terrifying visceral experience I had when I first played them whilst at the same time telling a grounded human story about a small dying American town that feels both relatable and relevant to today’s audiences.” - Johannes Roberts

“After a dozen games, six live-action movies, and hundreds of pages of fan fiction. We felt compelled to return to the year 1998, to explore the secrets hidden in the walls of the Spencer Mansion and Raccoon City.” - Robert Kulzer, original franchise producer

New details shared on Netflix's upcoming Resident Evil show, will feature Wesker's daughters

The show is a go

We've known for awhile now that Netflix was working on an adaptation of Resident Evil, but today we get some actual details on what to expect.

'Supernatural' showrunner Andrew Dabb will write, run, and executive produce the series, which has been greenlit for 8 episodes, and he seems to be quite a fan of the series.

"Resident Evil is my favorite game of all time. I'm incredibly excited to tell a new chapter in this amazing story and bring the first-ever Resident Evil series to Netflix members around the world. For every type of Resident Evil fan, including those joining us for the first time, the series will be complete with a lot of old friends, and some things (bloodthirsty, insane things) people have never seen before."

Constantin Film's Robert Kulzer, Oliver Berben, Mary Leah Sutton, and the Walking Dead's Bronwen Hughes will also be exec producing.

As far as story details go, Netflix's Resident Evil adaptation will feature two storylines. One features the 14-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker who are moved to New Raccoon City, which is a manufactured corporate town. The two girls slowly releaze that the town is hiding secrets, and they look to find out exactly what's going on.

In the second storyline, which takes place more than a decade into the future, sees the man race brought down to just 15 million people. Unfortunately, Earth is also populated by more than 6 billion monsters that have been infected with the T-virus. 30-year-old Jade is trying to survive in this world, but secrets of her family's past make it extremely challenging.
