"What are you playing?" thread

What are you playing?
What have you recently beaten?
Any opinions on it?

Figured this would be a good thread to bring back. So get posting!

I'm currently playing through Majora's Mask (3D), which I never played much of before, and it's awesome.

(Put this in "Random Time!", because where else to put it.)

Finished Bayonetta 2 last night.
Thinking of going back and finishing up Hyrule Warriors.
I need to clear my backlog......... but Whitcher 3 is also calling my name :/

Im playing persona q, fantasy life, rune factory 4, project x zone and freeky formes to name a few.

Loooooooooooooved fantasy life. Its a shame they went mobile after this.

I mostly play Splatoon and FIFA nowadays. I am starting to get a little bit of Splatoon fatigue so I wish that Nintendo would launch a summer game that I wanted to play.

Beat some days ago the Hero Mode of Skyward Sword. And I'm not touching that game ever again.

Replayed Return To Dreamland and still playing Smash Bros.

...I kinda want to buy Mario Kart 8, but I think I'll wait for Mario Maker.

A few days ago, I beat Picross DS and Bomberman DS, and I just saw a guy in my city is selling his Super Princess Peach, I'll see if I can snag it before someone else does it and, most likely, resell it. I always wanted to play it.

As of what I'm playing right now...um...I'm only playing Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, with a little of bit of random games on the side.

I've beaten Mega Man 9. Very faithful to the NES games. I don't understand why they still don't replenish your weapon energy after you respawn: if I need it against a boss, I'm screwed. And the achievements are frickin' crazy: "beat the game without dying once" or "beat the game 30 times", yeah sure...

Now I'm playing Catrap, a puzzle game for Game Boy. Good but tough.

Been playing Splatoon alot lately. Also been playing Smash, Kirby Squeak squad, and The legends of Kay.

Finally got around to beating Ys 1 over the weekend. That game has one of the nastier collections of bosses in recent memory, and I was wondering how the final one could top everyone that came before, but Falcom certainly managed it, lol.

Between him and the first boss of Ys 2 (which Chronicles segued immediately into), I wound up getting some pretty crazy Tetris Effect during the night.

Been a while since a game has done that, haha.

Right now I'm playing:

-Kirby's Dream Land 3, via the Wii U Virtual Console. I hadn't played it before, and I'm not really enjoying it. Like with a lot of Kirby games I feel like I'm forcing myself to finish it. These games don't tend to be very long, and yet when I play them they feel like they're just going on and on...

-Super Mario Maker, it's awesome, but you already know that. Anyone with a Wii U should have this game.

-Scribblenauts Unmasked. I'm playing this on Steam and not enjoying it a whole lot. I think I would like it more had I gotten it on Wii U to play on the GamePad. Scribblenauts Unlimited was one of those rare games that playing on the GamePad was better than playing on the TV, so I should have stuck with Wii U for this one, too. But it's too late. I dunno if I'll finish it or not.

This is a list of games I own and have been playing...

50 classic games? AR games?? Music on???????? Where's the love for hardcore games? i'm not trying to sound rude but no self respecting gamer would choose a list of that over the Skyrims, Xenoblades, Personas, or even Portal or Flower. What kind of gaming list is this!!

But enough about you. It's time to know what a seasoned gamer like myself has gotten into. Let's just say, being the open-minded gamer I am, I have been dabbling in many a great game such as Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive, Downwell, Odallus, and have been going through my third play through of Undertale. My Nintendos has been collecting dust these past couple months.

I'm still playing Final Fantasy XIV, getting everything to level 60 (right now working on Bard, with Black Mage, Warrior, Summoner/Scholar, Monk, and Dragoon already at 60, with Black Mage being my best geared class).

Outside of that, I've started playing Skylanders again. I haven't played it since Giants, though I have every game in my backlog. I played, and actually beat, Superchargers, only because of DK and Bowser. Planning to play the rest of the series starting this week, probably starting with Trap Team and working backwards.

For whatever reason, I decided to finally end the hiatus I put on Chibi-Robo: Park Patrol almost 5 years ago. I suddenly started to enjoy it if I see it as a strategy game (as in, know what to do and when).

Outside of that, it's just Pokémon Shuffle Mobile, Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

If everything goes alright from here to December, I'll FINALLY get a New 3DS XL on Christmas, even though I'm aware of the NX situation (something similar happened with my SMB 25th DSi XL and the 3DS).

I finished Kirby's Dream Land 3. Glad to be done with it. Now started Resident Evil 4 on Steam after getting it in the Humble Capcom Bundle. I hadn't played it in 10 years since the GameCube version released. It took a little bit to get used to the aiming and over the shoulder view again, but I'm enjoying it so far (only around 2 hours in).

Hatoful Boyfriend: Kind of reminded me of Deadly Premonition with the way that lot of the bizarre story elements that seemed like they were weird just for the sake of being weird actually came together in the end -- except without all the legitimately-awful gameplay segments in between the inexplicably-entertaining bits of plot.

If I were not so lazy, I would do a 'What I played/What I Expected/What I got' image where the 'What I got' portion consists of images of Hannibal Lector, James Bond, Lavos from Chrono Trigger, ninjas with guitars, Jello Pudding, Pyramid Head, a biohazard symbol, and Goodfeathers from Animaniacs.

This pigeon dating sim certainly went places.

Right now I wanted to play Project Zero, but it's not in the eShop yet (probably in an hour in my time zone). But the Forest Temple music from OoT in the eShop already creeped me out (came here just to tell you actually - please check it out).

I'm also looking forward to:
- Yoshi on Wii U
- Art Academy on Wii U
... as I bought both of them today for 30 Euros (together!). What a steal!

I also need to finish Swapper, which already gave me many nice hours of inspired gameplay Smile

I'm currently playing Yo-kai Watch is similar to Pokemon.

Since my last post I finished Resident Evil 4's main story mode and Separate Ways mode (which was new to me since it wasn't in the GameCube version). I never played the Mercenaries or Assignment Ada mode in the GCN version, but I'm gonna take a break from RE4 for now before I get tired of it. I'll go back to those modes maybe early next year.

I've been playing DmC: Devil May Cry on Steam. I beat this last year on PlayStation 3. It's a fun game, probably the best beat-em-up I've played since God Of War III.

Also started up Guacamelee on PS4. Really fun game, I like the references to other games and memes.

I bought IronFall Invasion on eShop. Really impressive graphics, I'd say they might have taken the best looking 3DS game crown away from RE: Revelations. As far as if the game is fun or not, if you enjoy shooters and you play on 3DS a lot, your options are kind of limited so you kinda have to take what you can get. Thankfully the game isn't terrible, but compared to what you can play on consoles/PC, it's just average. I hope the online multiplayer remains active for a while cause that's the main reason to play (you can purchase just the multiplayer half of the game if not interested in campaign, but I bought both).

I just bought EarthBound Beginnings and VS. Excitebike, so I'll be playing those along Shovel Knight until Cloud arrives to Smash Bros. or I get Splatoon, Super Mario Maker or Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival, whichever happens first.

I beat Bloodborne last week. Now there's a DLC I'm seeing that could be harder than everything I encounter [just for note I also did the optional bosses Cool].

I want to play Undertale and as for retail I'm waiting on Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Currently been playing Smash4, Mario Maker, Undertale, and Sonic Generations. Really needs get back alot of games on my Wii-u, 3ds, and pc.

Primarily playing Tri Force Heroes (solo) & Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water.

I have to figure out what I am playing in between.

Trails In The Sky: Finally got around to this game whose title I will never be abbreviating. Being a Falcom game, it allows players to pick 'Nightmare' Difficulty right off the bat with a rather interesting screen before confirming the choice: "It's your funeral."

Compared to Mushihimesama's "Are you prepared to battle sheer despair?", I found that attempt at a warning to be rather quaint.

No regrets about the choice, btw. The battle system is decent as far as turn-based strategy goes, and if enemies were any less vicious, then I suspect I would not have had to learn how to take advantage of a lot of its dimensions. Grinding also seems to be fairly useless on this mode, as most enemies seem to KO my party members in an average of two-to-three hits regardless of level, which is a huge plus. Equipment seems more important, and the sidequests themselves are well-balanced in terms of seeming to know at every point how many party members the player should have, what items they should possess, the strength and elements of spells they should know.

My main complaint is that there are *soooo* many sidequests that I feel like I might need to take a break and play something else, and I am only on Chapter 2. And this with Xenoblade on the horizon -- talk about time-sinks.

Huh, I was actually looking for this kind of thread a long while back and didn't realize it got made. A lot of games have come and gone since then.. oh well.

Right now I'm more or less stuck in a huge art-project again, so my time for gaming is kind of self-limited. But with Xenoblade X coming up quick, I thought I'd try to play through a bit of some games I haven't touched for a long while. Oddly enough I never got all of the stages unlocked for SSB4 so I finally did that. And now I'm trying to work my way through Wonderful 101 again.

Wonderful 101 is a weird game to me. I think it's really cool and funny and has some interesting dialog/story going on, but when I PLAY the game it mostly feels like a huge mess. Sometimes I can make it through after a lot of struggling, feeling like I'm barely getting through, and then I'll hit a wall and not play again for a couple months. And yet sometimes it seems to go better than I expected and I have a good laugh at the ridiculous boss fights and epic events going on mid-level. And then it's right back to face-punch-attention-span-destroying mayhem that I can barely keep up on, or feel like I definitely hit a button to defend when I get hit anyway... *shrug*

I doubt I'll beat it before XCX comes out... when I resumed from where I was, I think I was still in the last segments of Operation-002, and I thought I was lot farther than that. Although it looks like there are only 9, I'm sure there must be some larger segments in those, so I dunno. Don't really feel like binge-gaming on it either since I have things I need to be doing, and XCX will waste even more time when it comes, but I dunno.

I haven't touched my 3DS much, but since my relative died, I don't sit in doctor's-offices at all now either. So I just crack it open to do Badge-Arcade now and then, and that's about it. Haven't even finished Link Between Worlds or even come close to doing regular-missions on the 2nd-Strata of EO1-remake where I left off at. It was starting to get kinda tedious anyway.

Since the last post I finished Guacamelee, IronFall and DmC: Devil May Cry. All were good games.
For DmC, while God of War III and Bayonetta 2 are kings of the genre, DmC whoops their ass in the soundtrack department.

Now I'm mostly just playing Super Mario Maker still, and just started getting into Splatoon. I wrote Splatoon off back when it first released due to lack of voice chat and not being able to join friends (the latter was fixed via patch thankfully) but I'm enjoying it now. I did get it cheap during Black Friday because I refused to pay full price (I even remember saying that I'd wait for it to drop to the $30 range and someone on here saying "good luck" and that it won't happen because Nintendo's 1st party games don't drop in price that much in under a year).

@Captaincolon: Well "Nintendo dropping prices" and "getting it on sale for Black Friday" are pretty different things. Nice that you were able to get it, though...it's a good game, although I've kinda got sidetracked with other games to be into it at the moment.

For me, XCX definitely has taken up a huge amount of my time, but I feel like I'm kind of pushing through maybe a little too fast. It does look like, after one week, I'm going to get my Skell-license at just about the exact 30-hour time limit that most people have been reporting.

XCX is pretty overwhelming with its customization, though. I mean you can only fully-customize your own character and only tweak the surface of other characters, but it's still pretty daunting. I haven't upgraded any equipment because I'm not sure if it's worth it or not, I haven't made any augments because I don't want to put them on low-level equipment, and I have a hard time deciding between good equipment and equipment that isn't as good but have good perks to them. Mostly I've just been winging it, but unfortunately I've had to "dumb-down" just about every chapter-boss so far, so I'm probably doing something wrong. (You're given an option to fight a boss at a lower level if you get party-wiped more three times by it....one of them wiped my party about 15 times even when its levels were lowered though. But I'd already spent my BP on stuff and I dislike it when games require me to level-grind, so I just kept pushing until I got lucky with random-rolls on damages and misses and critical hits.)

Still really enjoy the game, but I both feel like I'm going too fast and like I'm not doing enough. I don't want to defeat the size and scope of the world by getting a skell too fast....but at the same time I'm tired of having to take a 15 minute run to get around these stupid-huge mountains everywhere.
