Roland Emmerich may not be doing Asteroids, but he liked the script

I was very honored that they wanted to have me as a director, and I kind of liked the script very much, but at that time I was writing with my writing partner Harold Kloser a new script called Singularity and I opted for that. - Roland Emmerich

I would love to know what exactly is in that script. I'm guessing the game license is in name only, seeing as how Asteroids doesn't really have a story to adapt.
