Coming from the Team Meat Twitter...
"Original Quote on size restrictions: ‘…or if they do they are reasonable restrictions (40MB is horrible….2GB is reasonable).’"
So...Team Meat doesn't know the actual number. I remember reporting awhile back that eShop games could be as big as the largest SD card that functions with the 3DS. I still like that answer better!

Backtracking that fast. Wow.
I just knew that had to be some sort of lie.
what lie? it was a misinterpretation, nothing more, nothing less...
I knew that was not true. Since nintendo said retail games could be put on eshop. RE:R uses a 4gb card so that pretty much stops the Team Meat lie. Whatever they say about nintendo don't believe. Especially since they are not making games for the system.
4 GB+ is possible, as Iwata said recently that full retail games, may come to the eShop in the future.
@siavm
but no retails are on the 3ds yet and just because retail could be put on the 3ds, that doesn't mean nintendo is putting all retails on the eshop. You saying they are lying when it was misinterpreted and backing it up by speculation on your part.
Still big enough for Super Meat Boy.
The original quote never said the eShop.
The actual quote in the previous post was:
"40MB is horrible, but 2GB is reasonable."
And the [WiiWare's] and [3DS's] were added by the person writing the article, because normally those are 'implied' pieces of information that weren't actually said.
So the person who originally added WiiWare and 3DS was assuming that's what they meant.
I think it was more in line with WiiWare was unreasonable and XBLA was not, but it really just comes down to 40MB being unreasonable in general.
I don't care how many games that are 3D you try throwing at me, it's still unreasonable if you want a good, lengthy game with production values about as good as a retail release almost. Or budget retail.
I hope 2 GB isn't their minimum for "reasonable".
@MoldyClay
Thanks for an obvious observation. Anyone expecting high production value from WiiWare is just being so ignorant. And if they need it to have fun, I don't envy them.
Hopefully 2 GB isn't really the limit.
I still find it funny that they were originally making Meat Boy for WiiWare...then suddenly it became "too big" for it. As if it would have been that hard to keep it as was, and then maybe have extra levels or characters or whatever be (CHEAP) DLC. But hey.
So 32GB is possible?
Damn... o_O
Cool, now maybe they'll put something on there and not complain.
if only they could stop with the complaining , for some guys who never actually released anything on a nintendo platforms , they sure talk a lot . In reality , the xbox live gold scheme should give microsoft an awful lot of money for no actual service . since the psn do the exact same thing aka p2p gaming with no cost involve for the end user , that means the 50 bucks per year is like 95% profit ? funny how no one thought of that and yet each nintendo platform is apparently sold at a "fat" 50 bucks profit , heck even 100 bucks why not .
anyway with that money a few "indie" darling here and there and people will still be glad to pay for that . even though they could buy those games with silver , they won't have online play because that's so special !
