UPDATE - As expected, confirmed fake (thanks Dim!)
My email is absolutely lighting up with the following image.
Is the Wii U getting a name change? Well, if you go look at the actual calendar link over at Nintendo's Japanese site, you can see that the listing is for Mario Party 9. Either someone just so happened to see inside information posted publicly for a split-second...or it's a fake. I'm guessing you know which one is more likely.

Wii entertainment system?
I was just going to warn you to not post this hoax. That wii icon is just for wiiware stuffs.
You have to admit, the argument that they didn't want people to confuse the Wii and Wii U like people did with the 3ds and ds was pretty convincing.
It might have been a simple mistake. But I could be wrong.
Come ON!
Nintendo 7 would have been the perfect name.
Even Wii 2 would have been acceptable. I think Wii U is a silly, stupid name.
@LegendofZelda1996
A japanese guy posting an english header completely unrelated to the game section it was posted is too much of a stretch. This is a hoax, nothing else.
@thegreatscp No, that sounds stupid, tbh.
'Wii 2' [as bland as it is] was the only acceptable alternative. But they won't be changing the name now anyway, so that's a moot point.
I think if they are gonna change it, it would be to drop the wii name.
@thegreatscp
We said exactly the same thing about the name "Wii" when it was first revealed
at least it was new... wiiu is inst cool and isn't original. it's just stupid it adds no shock vale like wii did.
I don't need a name change but I'd like one. Nintendo would be smart to ditch the Wii name and even the aesthetic if you ask me. The controller looks exactly like a Wii controller in style. I know that's been Nintendo's thing for a while but it could look a little sleeker. A little less 'plastic toy'-ish. I don't have a problem with it but it would keep people from going on about Nintendo being kid-friendly a bit I think.
Except 'Wii U' isn't new, it's 'Wii' with a pronoun. lol
Not quite the same thing...but you're right about the original Wii. I hated it. Still do, to be honest. But what's in a name? People don't even notice it after a while.
I do think 'Wii 2' would be more beneficial for casual gamers who are looking to upgrade from the first Wii. Wii U in and of itself may not convey to the mass audience that it's a successor and not an add-on or periperal like Sega CD.
It's a perfectly legitimate concern to me... I'm all in favor of a name change.
Maybe it'll be called the NES HD or the UNES (lol).
*gasp* or maybe the Famicom HD.
@Windsor
I don't think anything, especially not a hardware design or name change, would change the 'Nintendo is kiddy' crap.
Anyone with half a brain knows that Nintendo isn't just for kids, but it doesn't stop the other half from using that lie to knock Nintendo or people who game on Nintendo machines. They don't have any real facts to back up their hate/bashing/trolling of Nintendo, so they revert back to "Nintendo is kiddy!!!111" whenever needed. I don't think anything will ever change it because it's been going on far too long and the people who say it aren't smart enough to come up with anything else.
I'm not a huge fan of the name Wii U, though, but it has grown on me after using it so much since last E3. I don't know what I would want them to call it, but I know I groaned when they announced the name on stage last year. As for the look of the system and controller...I guess I don't mind it. I'm always for even more sleek and sexiness, though, so I wouldn't mind if they changed up the aesthetics a bit, either.
Wow you guys are so quick to jump to conclusions. The box next to "Schedule Wii Entertainment System blah blah" says:
"WiiWare" in Japanese
AKA THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH Wii U
The image says.
Wiiウエア = Wii Ware
Wii Entertainment System is just a "formal" name for the Wii.
And... also the part that it re-directs you to the Mario Party 9 website, which states that the game release date is April 26th, 2012.
xD
Seems like we will have to wait until E3 D: XD
THE 2nd COMING OF THE SNES

@ddddd
Looks like we've just been trolled. O well.
@kdognumba1
I trully wanted to warn RMC about this, though I was going to send this one too at first, but I waited to see what happened. Too many websites and forums were fooled lol (though it will also give them some extra clicks).
BTW, here's the confirmation, good to see it was updated fast here.
