I'll have to check this one out with GameStop tomorrow. If anyone cares to call their local store in a time zone where it's still open, see what they have to say! Thanks to Immewnity for the heads up!
I've got a good friend that's an employee at a local GameStop, and she said it's not a street date yet. From what I've seen, they normally aren't street dated unless there's an SD by the name of the game.
when are people going to learn that gamestop release dates on the system are just place holder estimates -_- they dont know the dates, but if they get a "fall 2012" or a "summer 2012" release date they usually put a placeholder date for the beginning of the first month in that season. I thought it was common knowledge by now.
Wrong. The last billion Pokemon RPGs have all released on a Sunday. Kid Icarus did too, so did Super Mario 3D Land. Nintendo generally releases big games on sundays.
But that is a decent ball park date, I'm guessing it will end up being September 30th (two days before, and a sunday)
I work at a GameStop, and I can verify that is what we have listed.
I can also say this is almost for sure a placeholder. Sort of how GameStop has things like Paper Mario listed for 08/02/12. Something about the 2nd day of a month means placeholder.
The game might be out sooner, or it might be out later. Typically we're never the first to know a release date. In the very least, our reserve system is never the first to know. Nintendo told GameStop to expect a fall release, GameStop puts it for October, and will update it when Nintendo gives an official one. Some higher ups may have a better idea of a release, but for now that's the date they let be public.
Also someone brought up the whole Street Date thing. Usually when a game does have an official release date, it will have something like "SD 6/26" next to its titles. That basically means that's the exact day GameStop is allowed to sell it. Most games get a street date these days. Those are subject to change too, but that's less common. Pokemon is a huge enough title I guarantee it will be street dated. There's no way they wouldn't ship them to stores ahead of time. Especially true since there is no shipping on Sundays, so they'd have to make sure they make it to the stores by Friday.
Chances are it will get a Sunday release, like most Pokemon games. However lately Nintendo has had a few Friday releases, like Xenoblade or Star Fox.
I'm personally hoping it does come out then or sooner. Halo coming out the 6th of November scares me, since that's when CoD usually comes out. If those two shooters end up on the same day, and Pokemon comes out the same week too, I don't know what I'd do with myself. It would just be plain awful D=
GameStop is just one of those places that guesses at a date so they can start taking pre-orders as early as possible. They want your money.
I don't trust that date a single bit. Thought it may be close considering it is supposed to release in Fall?

Well Pokemon titles are always released months after the japanese launch. Maybe it is kind of an accurate guess.

I can buy that release date. It's a tuesday, this fall, and it's not November. Also, Gamestop seems to be in bed with Nintendo now, so...maybe.

The game is coming out here in around September

I just called at a german GameStop, they told me it would be the 10.14.
I call a fake on this on, because Games are released on Friday in Germany, not on sunday.
I hope we get it before Nintendo Wii U comes out
