Everyone has their own opinion about what is "the best console of all time". Some say SNES, some say N64, some say Playstation, some say Genesis, hell, some OLD old schoolers even say Atari 2600. But for me, it was and always will be the NES. It isn't just because that's what I grew up with. It's the fact that if you go back and look at it's library, it was amazing. The system lasted in the US for 10 years, which is usually unheard of in game console terms. And while I would absolutely say the SNES is the SECOND best console of all time, and it certainly had some amazing games, and was THE console to own for RPGs, for sure. The NES was simply, to me, the ultimate console. It had everything, and so many great game series STARTED on the NES to boot.....
Let me illustrate:
Platformers: SMB 1-3, Ducktales 1 and 2, Adventure Island 1-4, Bonk's Adventure, Chip & Dale 1-2, Kirby's Adventure
Action: Mega Man 1-6, Castlevania 1-3, Ninja Gaiden 1-3, Contra and Super C, Rygar, Astynax, Kid Icarus, Metroid
Adventure: Zelda 1-2, Faxanadu, Battle for Olympus, Fantastic Dizzy, Wizards & Warriors 1-3, Star Tropics 1-2
Beat 'em Up: Double Dragon 1-3, TMNT 2-3, River City Ransom, Battletoads and BT/DD, Renegade, Mighty Final Fight
Top-Down Action: Commando, Metal Gear and Snake's Revenge , Heavy Barrel, Guerrilla War, Ikari Warriors 1-3
Shoot 'em Up: 1942 and 1943, R-Type, Gradius, Lifeforce, Fantasy Zone 1-2, Stinger, Legendary Wings
Role Playing: Dragon Quest 1-4, Final Fantasy, Crystalis, Shadowgate, Ultima 3-5, Ghost Lion, Faria, Wizardry 1-3
Puzzle: Tetris 1-2, Dr. Mario, Yoshi and Yoshi's Cookie, Loopz, Marble Madness, Adventures of Lolo 1-3, Wario's Woods
Sports: Tecmo Bowl and Super Tecmo Bowl, Blades of Steel, Bases Loaded 1-4, NES OT Golf, Super Dodgeball
Fighting: Yi Ar Kung Fu, Kung Fu, Best of the Best, Ring King, WWF Wrestlemania, TMNT Fighters, Punch Out!
Racing: Rad Racer, RC Pro Am 1-2, Excite Bike, Super Off Road, Micro Machines,
Arcade: Donkey Kong Classics, Mario Bros., Galaga, Pac-Man, Joust, Arkanoid, Rampage, Lode Runner
Misc: Vegas Dreams, Wrecking Crew, Balloon Fight, Ice Climber, Bomberman 1-2, Skate or Die 1-2
Obscure But Awesome: Monster Party, Totally Rad, A Boy and His Blob, Xexyz, Shatterhand, Kickmaster, Metal Storm, Yo Noid!, Kid Klown, Conquest of Crystal Palace, Kid Niki, Breakthru, Little Nemo, Godzilla, Little Ninja Bros.
There are way more than I listed, naturally, but those are just examples of how much the system had going for it, and how many classic series got their start on the console. Which, again, is why to me, it will always be the best.
I have a Nes and a few game for it any suggestions for websites to buy Nes titles for a good price robometal cowboy
@shadowmario1987
I find ebay and Amazon to be the best. Lukiegames.com is pretty good, but kind of overpriced.
Really, no mention of Ducktales or Little Nemo? T_T
No Contra? no Ninja Gaiden?
@shadow i'd recommend GameTZ.com(game trading zone). People there sell NES and other games at prices way below Amazon and ebay. Check it out
Good list.. Still, at least Contra and Ninja Gaiden should've made it in
No Castlevania? Ouch.

Pretty good list. Although I'd definitely have put Kirby's Adventure on there.
Uh.....this is a "You should know where you came from" list, rather than a "worth playing" list.
So, that's a bit preachy.
