I WANT IT!
My source does seem pretty confident that the crossover is real. In fact, he hinted at a it quite a while ago. It does seem to match with all the rumors we have been hearing:
-Star fox is coming to the Wii U
-Metroid is coming to the Wii U
-Retro is developing something the fans want
-The project is massive
-It would explain why it wont' come out at launch
-They have been hiring people with experience in shooters
I also liked what i heard. People don't seem to like the idea of it, but i'm sure a lot of people didn't like metroid turning into a first person shooter at first, but i'm sure a lot people are okay with it now

And then Fox shoots Samus.

I'd pay money for this.

(Nothing against Samus, don't want her getting shot. At least that applies to other Samuses that aren't Other M Samus.)

I'll admit, I lol'd

I still think this rumor is fake but I'm starting to like the idea. Now I'll be disappointed if they don't reveal the game at E3. xD

Nah, seriously, I just want a new Star Fox. And a new Metroid. And Retro's next thing. If they're all the same, then great. If not, that's cool too. But I want them.

This is great! I really hope this rumor is true

The comedy crossover you've all been waiting for.

*lame trumpets*

Also, men are obviously much more capable on the battle-field, as this proves. Sexism for the win.

*trololololo guy*

All that GIF needed was a barrel roll :twisted:

I should never see Fox's feet. That is to say, Fox should never be out of his Arwing or the very occasional Landmaster. No on-foot levels for Star Fox games. Wasn't Assault enough?

@Drahken No, on feet is the way to go. It's very possible to make a good 3rd person shooter with star fox characters. Namco tried but they where not successful. If Star fox wishes to be a retail title in today's market it needs something other than awesome rail shooters. I'm positive retro can do it

@LegendofSantiago

What you want isn't Star Fox then. If all games change to be like other games to become a successful retail game, we should call it Resident Evil 6.

@YF3 I LOVE star fox, but for more success in the market the series needs to evolve from the n64 rail shooter I fell in love with when I was a kid. If retro builds on the ideas made in assault and KI: uprising they can easily make a great experience

^ Above posters, you realize this gif is not just a mock-up of what it would look like in that classic Metroid form right?

It's longer than that and quite FUNNY! :lol:

This rumour is still fake I am sure of it. It just wouldn't make any sense at all. :/ And I've gotta say the gif is terrible quality.

Check the source. Much better quality there.

I think its a silly idea. If they just made a real Metroid game in the vein of I, II, and III and a real StarFox game with good production values - does not mean cutscenes and story - both these games would do well.

Lumping games together feels cheap. STuff like that is fine with smash bros and mario kart but don't do it with action games.

I imagine they are either working on both separate games with maybe a similar engine or they are developing one of the two incorporating elements of one from the other. Starfox with exploration and power-ups a la Metroid - powerups for the ship and Fox maybe. Or a Metroid game that spans a solar system with flight sections during travel - Metroid with a few elements from Mass Effect and StarFox kind of game.

That would be more interesting. this StarFox - Metroid universe collides is dumb.

And just like that, Star Fox - Metroid: Fusion Saga has been confirmed!

Ah, now that's where it all falls apart.

@MrChewtoyI don't think so. Some people are against it since they don't know how the series would mix. But, i'm sure Retro can do it

I honestly don't know why it took so long. Both Star Fox and Metroid are Nintendo's space themed games and would go great together. Heck, I just want to see a crossover game that isn't either a fighter, racing, or party game. A crossover action/adventure game would be awesome since it has never been done before (from what I remember). This game would be the second best thing to a true Mario/Sonic crossover.

@ridleyscott
It doesnt make a whole lot of sense for samus to inhabit the same universe as a bunch of anthropomorphic characters. It would be one thing to just be a crossover, like marvel vs capcom, smash bros, or that sony smashbros ripoff...but if they try to BS this as canon, im not sure how I could handle it.
Of course, changing the art style for starfox might entirely eliminate that problem, but i doubt nintendo would support a grizzled, alien starfox look

@cobaltorange
...What about f-zero? its already crossed over twice, with james and then later as a SFC alt ending.

I wasn't saying Retro couldn't do it, just that up until this point I'm sure anyone who could even conceive such an idea probably wouldn't want it.

And just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should.
