EoD - Bye, EA

Vigil would love to talk about Darksiders II Wii U details, but Nintendo wants info held until E3

“If I didn’t have a strict gag order on me, I’d love to talk about all the great features that we have, but what I can tell you is that it’s a next generation platform, and you should keep your eyes open. We’ll obviously be using the unique controller that it has to its utmost potential, but speaking to specific features or tech effects… well, that’s in Nintendo’s playground right now. And I know that they have plans for E3.” - Jeremy Greiner, Creative Manager at Vigil Games

I'm thinking this title will be part of Nintendo's E3 conference once again, maybe with a live demo during the show. I can't wait to see more on this one!

CONTRADICTIONS

I am getting the game for the wii U. I'm just disappointed they won't up-rez it or increase the resolution when compared to the other platforms

Thats what people need to realize, that people just cant talk about WiiU games.

Not really a good choice for a live demo at the conference, but oh well.

What did he contradict?

Yes its next gen but they are not gonna spend extra money to make this game look way better then PS360, look at early 360 games they were just XBox games in HD, most launch games always look worst on any system, it will be exclusive games and games latter that show the power, not one of the first ports.

@FelipeGonc
I agree but its a lot of people hyped for this game, I am not one of them, I played the demo of part 1 on OnLive and did not like it at all.

I think nintendo got tired of these guys giving the impression constantly that the console is on par with current gen :lol:

@LegendofSantiago

What do you mean? What contradictions?

@FelipeGonc

I think it could be a great choice for a live demo, especially if the Wii U version has exclusive features because of the controller. It may not be a "typical Nintendo" title, but that's kind of the point. They want to bring the hardcore gamers back.

Wow, the people at vigil just keep contradicting each other, first someone says the wii u is on par with the ps3/360, then someone says darksiders 2 will look at least as good as it does on 360/ps3 (i.e not much more powerful),now we have someone saying its next gen

they're about as consistent as the rumours.

@motherbra1n

That guy that said the Wii U is on par with 360/PS3 was confirmed that he is not even working on the Wii U and he meant the Wii U version of Darksiders 2 not the console.

We have to remember that third-parties are basically forced to make educated guesses while experimenting on dev kits. They've been doing this for a year now. Plus, let's not forget that multiplatform games aren't exactly the best indication of determining the hardware power of a nex-gen console since they're made to look identical across major platforms UNLESS the next-gen hardware is a significant generational leap ahead. In some cases, old ports even on next-gen hardware, can still look identical or even worse compared to current-gen consoles due to a number of potential issues ranging from rushed development and budget to the learning curve of becoming familiar with programming for new hardware.In addition, one only has to look back at first generation software of next-gen platforms around launch time/first year to see the difference between how graphically better most games have gotten over the years.

We know for a fact that Vigil Games received 2nd generation Wii U dev kits in July 2011. That's when it made the comment about Wii U hardware would at least be on par with the 360/PS3, but likely have third-party ports appear graphically the same as the 360/PS3's unless later Wii U dev kits/finalized hardware proved otherwise. Developer Gearbox said in the same month (likely using the same 2nd gen dev kit), that it acknowledged Wii U as a more capable new console that can offer higher-resolution textures. However, in the same breath, Gearbox also referred to Wii U as a "really cool "stop-gap" console.

According to a rumor based on alleged second-hand information, third-parties apparently received 5th generation dev kits earlier this month but the intent was to release them in April 2012. Given the constant state of flux next-gen hardware goes through while in the process of console manufacture's gradually finalizing dev kits, it's only natural that devs do not know the true extent of what the consoles can do unless A) they have final dev kits and/or B) Nintendo informs them of what the hardware can realistically do.

Not surprising. I wonder how close the Wii U version of Darksiders II will be on par with the XBOX 360, PlayStation 3, and PC versions.

But I can assume that Nintendo is being more cautious since the Wii U controller leak.

All these talks for a game that won't sell more than 100k... All this hype is pathetic and a loose in time! I just don't know why he does not shup up till E3. There are agreements, so please respect them and don't talk, especially for nothing! Next.

Don't edit your posts, think before posting.

And, well, it is for people like you, that third parties don't support Nintendo, maybe you don't care, but some other people does. If we don't support third parties, they won't support Nintendo and it will be like the wii or the gamecube all over again.

I do edit my posts because english is not my native language (like many other people here) and sometimes i only see my mystakes after the post is done. I apologize for that (i am sooooooooo sorrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyy :lol: ) but i don't think "engrish writiiiing" is the solution.

I bought more than 40 Wii 3r parties games (no multiplatforms games) but none on 3ds (a lot of eshop games) because of all their non respect towards consumers. I have the power to punish them and i'm not going to private myself of that! My money is not dirty, i work for it, same for others Wii users (by the way, your money is dirty too, it's a Nintendo plateforme dude, even if it sells, it's stil gonna be dirty :lol: )... and i'm not going to buy the same games as the PS360 with no improvement which is the case for this game (if i plan to buy a WiiU someday, not shure). Be free to encourage this kind of lazy attitude, but in my mind the WiiU is not done for that... i guess! But i could be wrong after all! At the end, the consumer is still free to buy or not a product, it's really creazy and a non sense to blame consumers. And i don't like all his comments towards Nintendo, so like a baby, let's punish the bad boy. :lol:

No contradictions here. They didn't say "as powerful" and PS360. They said it was at least as good, which means nothing.

This guy just said that they can't talk about the Wii U's graphical capabilities. No one can.It's why every comment we've gotten has been exceedingly vague or a non answer. They CAN'T say, and it does us no good to take their non answers and vague responses way out of their original context, as many have done with Vigil's "At least as powerful as PS360" comment.

People, they said they WANT the game to look the same across all platforms... You know that someone COULD make a game that looks like a n64 game on WiiU... it wouldn't mean it's not more powerful than the n64... So yeah, this games is NOT the game to use to guess the console's power.

And in fact, if it looks exactly the same as the PS360, as there is a whole additional screen they must render, it must be at least a little bit more powerful... ;)

Correction

“If I didn’t have Nintendo Ninjas over my throat, I’d love to talk about all the great features that we have..."
