The following comment comes from David Gibson, Head of Software & Services for Macquarie Capital Securities Japan. He made the statement via Twitter when asked about the possibility of Monster Hunter 3G getting localized.
Capcom keep saying its unlikely as audience not there based on the wii game
I know Monster Hunter Tri didn't blow the market away, but I thought it sold pretty decently. Have any of the Monster Hunter games released stateside really brought in big sales?

Errrrrrrr, I dont want to wait till monster hunter 4 wtf!
@ddddd @autosaver
I guess I'm wrong then. My memory must be bad because I don't remember any commercials or anything.
Capcom, if you want to build an audience for a game series, you need to release more than one title on one system. Monster Hunter games, the few released in the US, are all over the place. Pick a system and build an audience. Dropping a MH game here and there on different systems is like trying to launch a new series over and over again but never giving it a chance to grow.
They blamed the fans for killing off MML3 also. They are a disgrace of a company these days.
You really don't remember this guy? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgdvAUjzf1k&feature=related
At this rate, Capcom will most likely only localize Street Fighter and Resident Evil.
capcom sure likes comments that don't make any sense.
Funny that, since Monster Hunter seems the type of game I'm more likely to try out on a handheld, and in fact that was what I was waiting for.
Are they serious? Jesus Christ, Capcom...
@nGen
This. So much this. This guy probably helped sell TONS of copies of the game
I followed the guy on Twitter until well after the game was released.
@TheWon
Dragons Dogma is pretty much like Monster Hunter but for one player. Hell the 360 in japan got Monster hUnter frontier which also wont get localized...
@Ryuujin1078
Correct me if wrong but Dragon's Dogma has on-line co-op up to four players plus you.
@ngen
I completely forgot about that guy. That's actually a great commercial.
@NeroSuferoth
No, it does not.
In North America Monster Hunter Tri sold over 500,000 units. How they come to the conclusion that the audience isn't here for this is beyond me.
If Capcom sticks to this and doesn't bring this or future Monster Hunters on Nintendo systems to other regions, I will of lost all faith in them and will boycott ALL future Capcom products. It is bad enough what they did to Megaman but this too.... nope, I refuse to support a company that values day 1 on disc dlc over quality games.
If this is true, I have no idea why you'd think MH4 would get localized.
all capcom seems to do these days is release streetfighter and resident evil games and nothing else. they jumped the shark as a company. even i like sega more than capcom. and they too aren't as perfect as that company.
Capcom sucks the same way that Konami and Namco and Squaresoft and Tecmo suck nowadays.
In each case,they all used to make almost uniformly amazing games back in the 8-bit and 16-bit eras. In three of their cases, they also produced amazing classic arcade games. But ever since the Playstation One era, they have begun to go downhill. By the PS2 era, I think all of those companies were already sliding so far downhill that it was irreparable. And by this generation, they have proven without a doubt that they do, indeed, suck ass now.
Which is incredibly sad. We're talking about the company that brought us Mega Man, and Street Fighter, and Buster Bros., and Final Fight, and Ghouls n Ghosts, and Darkstalkers, and some really amazing Disney based games on NES. We're talking about the company that brought us Castlevania, and Contra, and Gradius, and Twinbee, and Goemon, and some really excellent arcade Beat 'Em Ups. Or the company that brought us Final Fantasy, and Chrono Trigger, and Illusion of Gaia, and Super Mario RPG.
If you really think about that, it's damn sad. And it doesn't even have anything at all to do with Japanese developers allegedly "just not being good" anymore. No, it has to do with, in each one of their cases, those companies trying to change themselves and what they did BEST for years, to try and emulate western developers, because they see the type of sales that crap like Call of Duty makes, and they want that. They think to get that, they need to make those types of games. But the thing they're missing, is that people in the west liked them for the GOOD types of games they USED to make.
At least in Sega's case, you can make the claim that they do continue to try. They may not get it RIGHT (almost all the Sonic games they've recently made, the crappy "Golden Axe" they produced, the sub-par PS2 Shinobi, the sub-par Wii Nights game, etc.), but at least they do try.
Telling people wanna be number 1 by the year 20something and saying not to give up hope on Monster Hunter and now they do this
@bptboy
I looked it up and you are correct.
As long as they don't do this with MH4..........
(Apropos because I rock 'Peco armor)
...but monster hunter 3 sold better than the previous console entries...on the ps2...
I mean...seriously? what the hell kind of sense is that? did they spend too much on marketing and the difference was smaller?
in what world does this make sense?
I dont even care about 3g, im just worried about 4...
