@M1
Throwing the fact that you have to pay for subscription for the other two is irrelevant. You have yo buy games in order to receive points, in order to receive a status.
Actually I was countering the statement that Sony gives PS+ members free games, when the price of those games offered each month is built into the price of PS+
Also Sony gives you a selection of like three retro games a month.
Thus no one gets anything for free from Sony, unless a major security breach occurs.
You don't have to have subscription to XBL to join the program, though you wont earn enough MS points to buy anything more than a few outfits for your avatars at best.
Also XB Rewards program is not open to all members yet.
The point is Club Nintendo is a much better rewards program than what Microsoft offers and it is open to everyone unlike Xbox Rewards.
I am not a card player, but I think the cards are pretty neat. Would I have preferred something Zelda related. Like a Trifrorce Statue? Of course. But the cards, like the other gifts they have given are a nice novelty. I wonder if the cards are casino quality...
Anyway, I picked the cards, but do I get a VC game too? I have never play Majora's Mask and though I have the Zelda Collectors Disc, I wouldn't mind a VC copy of the game as well.
Nope you get one prize only.
awwwwww, looking around here I was gonna give Majora's mask to someone... Oh well.
Thats really kinda lame. It doesn't cost Nintendo anything to give them away, aw whatever...
I was actually hoping for a Zelda Orchestra CD, (from the tour) w/ free digital copy. That would have been sweet!
This isn't the first time this year Nintendo has made Majora's Mask as a CN prize.
Also be thankful you don't live in Europe, their Club Nintendo doesn't do Platinum and Gold status/prizes.
I know they gave it away for a few coins. :p
And I am not complaining. I'll take what they offer. But there are 2 things I always say.
"It could always be better."
"It could always be worse."
So at the end of the day what's everyone going to get? I think I'm leaning more towards the playing cards; even if you never play cards they could come in handy some day. With posters, unless you frame them, they'll eventually get withered or dirty and I move around so much it's a pain to take them down and put them up over and over again. I agree these prizes aren't as great as past years, but at least we get them! Just a few years ago Club Nintendo didn't even exist! Also, while the prizes are a cool perk, what other way is there to directly give Nintendo feedback about games that we've bought. I don't know how much of it they actually read and listen to, but that's pretty awesome in itself that such a big company wants to know what it's fans and it's customer base likes and dislikes about their products.
I love playing cards D:
This kind of makes me wonder who within the higher ups is making these decisions. Ambassadors got 20 games to make up for the earlier $70 3DS price drop, but those who spend potentially hundreds of dollars on getting up to platinum status aren't able to receive one of four available games in addition to a physical item. That hardly makes sense when you do a direct comparison like that.
The playing cards are nifty and I'm happy for more neat free stuff, but tbh I'm kind of bummed about the game thing. I was looking forward to playing my first Mario vs. DK.
I don't really have room for the posters and the calendar is just for one year, I could always buy Majoras Mask or wait for a remake. I think the cards are going to last a long time.
If you don't like your reward you could always wait a few years and sell it
I'm gonna choose the cards. :p
I have no idea. My room is filled with framed posters, two of which are Zelda-related and from Club Nintendo. I already have Fangamer's Zelda-themed playing cards. And I own every game offered. This year's rewards are absolutely useless to me. I'm just trying to figure out which is more effective to keep for a long time / potentially give away to a friend.
And for anyone claiming "sell them"--unless you wait a long time (like say, ten years) and sell all your rewards in bulk as a Club Nintendo History type deal... they aren't going to sell for anything. Just look at how the Internet is reacting to them now.
I looked on eBay when I wanted to sell my pin set from last year--nobody's buying them, even when some guy has "Buy it Now" for $10.
Am I missing something? How do you get the download games? I go to the site and the only options I'm seeing are to pick the cards or the calendar. I want one of the games instead.
@NintendOld
You get the offer with both statuses, you don't have to choose.
I didn't manage to get Platinum this year, but it seems like it wasn't all that great. Some posters and playing cards... eh. Seems like something you would see on the reward gallery. The poster seems nice though.
Edit: Oh... Never Mind. Seems like you can only get one of the rewards on the reward page. Bummer!
Edit 2: Maybe this is for Europe? The Gold Reward here is a calender...
Give it a few days to correct itself. The servers have been understandably wonky; everything was working fine for me tis morning, but others are still having problems.
Wow, lotta kiddos here who don't pay for games I guess.
So let's be honest: these rewards suck. They SUCK. No defense applies.
They aren't free and people who demand something better aren't entitled.
You spent hundreds of dollars (or many folks' parents did anyway) to earn enough for platinum. You spent a significant amount of your personal time doing surveys. As another poster said, that data is GOLD for corporations.
Now, I do not expect Nintendo to just give away valuable stuff. I wouldn't expect a platinum reward to be more than, say, $20 tops. However, what I would expect was something UNIQUE and INTERESTING. That is why so many people are non-plussed about the rewards this year. There are many clever ways to do this without spending money (how about translated Mother 3!?!?!?! How about a cool t-shirt at least? Is this really hard?).
Of course I'm a moron and I'll keep doin' the club nintendo thing, but it would engender a lot more goodwill if they did better with the rewards.
I have a question too. Why is mine coming up showing a picture of the pin set if it has mario playing cards? and where is everyone else seeing other options for platinum and gold rewards at?
From where I got to the options was through a pop up right when I logged in.
Oh, and guys, Club Nintendo is a bonus. I hope you didn't buy games so you could get platinum status, and the platinum status isn't the only award you can get. You most likely got 600 free coins to spend on rewards such as free games and accessories for your hardware. You also may have got free rewards, discounts, or even invites to Nintendo Communities [Wifi] and Events.
I am still only getting 2 options for elite status gifts and it is the same options i said. i already have 3 of the 4 game downloads that are said to be offered. Majora's Mask, Super Mario Kart, and Mario and Donkey Kong Minis March Again. Why would the extra options not be showing up for me? i'm not even seeing the poster sets either.
So you are admitting that the only reason why you and others buy games for Nintendo systems are for the Club Nintendo codes?
I buy games for Nintendo systems because I want to play the games and Club Nintendo is an extra perk like many others.
Also translating Mother 3 would cost a good amount because they'd have to pay someone to do it and pay the ESRB to re rate it.
You do realize people hated the Doc Louis WiiWare, the Mario Hat, The Mario figurine, and the Mario Pin Set as cheap crap.
Hell many are claiming the Playing Cards are better than last year's Pin Set.
You do realize no prize will be deemed good enough by people, because they want something huge.
To end this, anyone who buys games for Club Nintendo codes needs serious help.
Agreed, I can't believe they aren't giving us both. I mean, these prizes are so cheap and cost next to nothing to ship.... least they could do is give us both....
@radical_defect
That is why you keep them for a long time. You don't buy an action figure in mint condition and expect it to sell 1 year later at 200% the price. I still have my Figurine Set and Pin Set in FACTORY PACKAGING so I'm sure it'll be worth something in 10 years.
Even 10 years from now that pin set won't be worth anything. Even if it would be, there are FAR better investments you can make to get a much bigger return over 10 years.
This is a clever scheme to get me to open my products so less factory sealed rewards are out there.
I'm obviously joking though, :p
