Remember when we showed you the poster from HMV that showcased the 3DS XL with two circle pads? HMV has finally released a statement.
"It's apparent this was just one particular store being a little over-enthusiastic - and the poster has been removed. If it's caused anyone any issues then we're sorry, but I'd say it doesn't take much to work out this doesn't represent the company's retail offer for this release."
A mistake, just as we thought. I wonder how many people were duped into a preorder because of that poster.

I guess the special shipment to that HMV location has been cancelled.

"...it doesn't take much to work out this doesn't represent the company's retail offer for this release"
Translation: "we have stupid employees who thought this Photoshopped picture was real and made an advertisement out of it but our customers would have to be really stupid to have believed that it was real"
They apologised for it? Nice of them I suppose, didn't expect that.
Still, they're not the ones to fall for this fake, I think CNet posted the exact same 'photo' on their article about the 3DS XL as well, and it's likely HMV simply came across either their site or the image posted on Google images, assumed the 'reliable' source was right and printed it off as a 3DS XL advertisement.
