@ChozoBoy only for the deluxe version.
I don't think the average consumer(i.e casual gamers)
wants to pay $50 extra for features they won't use just to get a free game
Will be interesting to see how it's separate version sells in comparison to the deluxe bundled one [and also the sales of NL VS Wii Sports eventually]:
The vocal on the interwebs didn't care for it without a bundle option - but will the mass market see it that way [across the US, the UK and Europe, and Japan]?
You realize it's not JUST a pack-in, right? It's sold separately since it doesn't come with Basic Wii U.
I'm clearly aware that it is sold separately. Like I said, "It will sell better than the Deluxe Wii U, inherently."

Scalpers don't buy things that don't sell. The point is that the Deluxe is virtually gone already and the Basic is still hanging around for the time-being. That could change, but it's what we have to go on.
There is no question that Nintendo Land will be one of the best-selling Wii U games of it's lifetime. The same goes for NSMBWU and Wii Fit U. (For those who don't look at numbers, Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus together outsold SSBB four-to-one.) Maybe even Sing, if it sells like Just Dance and has Nintendo publishing/promoting. These are the games that will be funding the development of the software and hardware that we will be buying over the next few years.
You do know that the majority of the Wii's hardware sales came from those so-called "casual gamers", right? Most of them aren't really the ones that's buying these consoles day one, lining up for a midnight launch, watching Nintendo Direct videos, and I'm sure most probably won't know that the Wii U exists until more television promos start running during popular talk shows and commercials, until they receive one as a gift, or when their kids ask for one.
Those so-called "casual gamers" are the ones that made the Wii successful, otherwise, I doubt that it would have done any better than Gamecube, with its low-end graphics and poor 3rd party support.
This time, with Wii U, they have to deal with a higher price tag, no pack-in game with the basic model, and the pack-in game isn't as easy to understand/pick up and play as the original Wii Sports. The Wii has hundreds of mini-games compilations, how will Nintendo Land prove to be anything different and worth purchasing?
Casual gamers may buy what's popular, but at the moment, most of them don't know much about the Wii U.
grcpan wrote:It better sell well. It's the only WiiU game that Nintendo has actually marketed.
...and that's unfortunate.
I, for one, was hoping that there'd be more 1st party games for the fans at launch, but suprisingly, we have a great lineup of 3rd party games to back them up. For once, I'm leaning on getting a Wii U just for the excitement that 3rd party support could potentially be just as great as Sony's and Microsoft's.
As opposed to.....?
Mario will sell itself (and of course will have advertising), much of the third-party stuff is multiplatform and they have advertising already for it, Pikmin 3 and The Wonderful 101 are not launch day games and thus have time to be geared up to, and everything else third-party...it's not Nintendo's responsibility.

Most third party stuff have advertising for the Xbox 360 and PS3, with their logos and/or boxes. We'd have to wait to see if anyone's going to say or add anything about the Wii U versions being available for the rest of the tv-watching world to know. Those who aren't following Nintendo news, especially like the way we are, most-likely may not know that those multi-platform games are even going to be for Wii U at all.
So already people are going to claim that the Deluxe is selling because of Nintendo Land...Well bull, it's selling despite Nintendo Land. No one want's that crappy game.

To me, I'm really curious as to how fast the WiiU will sell based on the NSMBU title, since it seemed to explode in sales on the Wii. Is the casual+core game players' desire for a NSMBU going to make WiiU sell like hot cakes with Nintendo Land being a packin? Its really hard to guess how much all those past Wii owners are willing to pony up the cash for the console on release. I suppose it will have at least the sales that 3DS did at the inflated price? Hmmmm...
Once new Star Fox and F-Zero games come out that are made for skilled gamers, I'll be in line the moment those are available for the WiiU. Its not asking for much.
Wii sports resort sold really well, I can't see Nintendo land selling poorly
What an idiot. It's a pack-in. Who would ask that question?
It will sell better than the Deluxe Wii U, inherently. Even if it wasn't, it's the type of game that you see in the top 10 best selling Wii titles.
You know what? Patcher is a kool dude

That wasn't totally clear when this was filmed 2 months ago...
... This have been recorded LONG ago... ಠ_ಠ
I am disappoint.¯^¯

The Deluxe version appears to be outselling the Basic version if the news stories that RMC posts about the Deluxe version being unavailable are any indication. http://gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&i ... 632d9acbcb

Another out-of-date-upon-release video feature from GameTrailers?

Just gotta wait til Tokyo Game Show to see.
This clearly was recorded earlier.. But good episode anyways.

People claiming that probably do. Heck, I do.
I think the Deluxe set is selling just because of the free game. I don't know if the extra memory is also a part of it (it's still really small).
