More confusion on Wii U's wireless online chat - PDP responds

"Afterglow wireless headsets are compatible with Wii U. If the game chat utilizes the USB port of the Wii U console then the AG headset can receive the chat audio wirelessly. If the chat audio is directed through the 3.5mm audio jack on the Wii U pad then user can plug in the provided chat/game audio cable. It depends on how the game / chat audio is designed." - PDP rep

For example, that means Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 cannot be used with PDP's headset in wireless mode. This is more confusing than it needs to be!

More speculation from RMC rather than fact...

Why not wait for the full facts before making wild claims?

God damn you RMC, that's not what it means at all. What's your deal, dude? Do you have confirmation on how Black Ops 2 is going to be processing audio? I can't believe you would make such a wild leap like that based on nothing. Come on, man.

So wait, if the chat audio is coming from the Controller you have to plug in the headset to the controller?
But if the chat audio is coming from the usb, then you have to plug in through usb which can make the headset wireless?

THIS is why you want this done on a system wide level. you don't want games handling chat differently, to different ports etc.

Nintendo is all about making it simple, well, they fail. All they do is make it more complicated than it needs to be. same thing with friend codes, their online stores, their lack of account system, etc.

They are like, apple's retarded cousin. Yea, they sort of have the same philosophy, but one of them kills the puppy by accident.

RMC, did you by any chance work on COD BOII?!? NO! Then stop making assumptions, ok? You're a bigger troll than Pachter is sometimes...

edit: oh it's kotaku, should have known...they are really ramping up the FUD brigade just in time for release

If the game chat utilizes the USB port of the Wii U console then the AG headset can receive the chat audio wirelessly. = If you are playing a game (COD) on the TV use the usb to use the Headset wirelessly

If the chat audio is directed through the 3.5mm audio jack on the Wii U pad then user can plug in the provided chat/game audio cable. = If you are playing (COD) on the gamepad, as in off-tv play which some games offer, then obviously you use the 3.5mm headset jack (I mean do you really use a wireless headset to play your 3DS? /rhetorical?)

All these uninformed and pure speculative outburst are really unwarranted. Don't make mountains out of molehills (especially since "It depends on how the game / chat audio is designed," meaning it can be programmed for both USB and the analog 3.5mm jack.)

RMC is only quoting what Kotaku said, put down the pitchforks and actually click on the links he provides

All this means is that every game handles headsets and in-game chat in a different way...

The system has built in speaker and mike... That is all you need for basic chatting. Headsets should be optional!

They are required if you use the Pro controller.

if the Wii U supports bluetooth headsets maybe that would solve the problem for those who want wireless headsets and don't want to be tethered to the Gamepad. I hated how the accessories were tethered to the wiimote on the wii, and having a headset tethered to the gamepad would remind me of that.

So... will the Wii U have cross-chat or not?

no. because they are relying on developers to basically roll their own voice chat stuff per game.

Uhm I think EVERYBODY is confused here. All the previous Call of Duty's on the wii that supported chat supported the headbanger headset (that is made by PDP) that connected through the USB port on the wii. I don't see Activision doing any different for the Wii U. Until we hear from somebody at Activision who actually knows what they're talking about we won't know for sure but more than likely the afterglow headsets will be supported in COD BO 2 for Wii U. I think the only thing the gamepads mic will be used for is video chat and maybe voice command in certain games. Kotaku needs to be called out on this though for confusing everybody and for spewing their BS in general lately right before the Wii U launch.

"This is more confusing than it needs to be!"

Actually, looks like it's more stupid than it needs to be.
