Coming from the Wii's digital manual...
Nothing too surprising, but still a few painful goodbyes for people today. Make sure you are okay with this before you move ahead!

Does preinstalled Wiiware and VC mean games that came with the Wii at the time of purchase?
Like Donkey Kong Arcade or any other channels? (I assume the DKArcade Edition was preinstalled. . .)
Considering it wipes the data from the Wii.... not being able to transfer those saves is extremely disappointing and nonsensical. I will never be doing this transfer.
I'm getting mixed answers about the concept of sending over saves like Brawl and stuff.
Saw people say it didn't and others say it did.
If it is true that you can't move some files over like those, why would I even do the transfer if it deletes my saves and stuff? This seems absolutely idiotic. I'm so mad right now.
If you have Brawl or Pokemon Battle Revolution. You're basically screwed. I have both. So I could never do the Wii transfer. Unless I hacked saved those files. Then restored them later.

I am considering this. You won't be able to play online again, I think, though. Unless it retains your Friend Code on the Wii (instead of formatting it, which would then change the Friend Code and make online impossible).
So all my online games would have to remain on the Wii, but via hacking.
I can only assume Rock Band DLC also won't transfer because of this.
I don't understand why the hell it would wipe your save files, doesn't make any sense. I'm also wondering what it means by pre installed virtual console titles. Also I never had any idea you could save Gamecube games to the Wii system memory, I always used the memory card.
So, I guess that means Monster Hunter Tri wont transfer either? Sad day for me. Looks like I will still be holding on to my Wii until Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.

What pisses me off the most is how long it took to unlock all the things I got in Brawl. I'm not transferring my Wii info if I lose that. We can only hope Nintendo makes an app for tranferring it, but I doubt they will since they'd probably prefer that we just buy the new Smash Bros. game.
Guess I'm keeping my Wii hooked up to the TV.
AC:CF. MK Wii, and SSBB all transfered to mine! So happy!
so there seems to be some confusion as to what is save data that could normally not be transferred. Looks like many here are assuming that includes all Wi-Fi games.
But it seems joshb got it working? Anyone else give it a go?
I got nearly every save data tied to my WFC, including Brawl, The Last Story, and Mario Kart, transferred and working with no problem.
I even sent a pic to the site to prove it! Everyone needs to chill out and do the transfer! It works! The only things I lost were the Everybody Votes, Check Mii Out, Weather, Youtube etc. No big losses at all. (Except Check Mii Out, as I had just entered a contest.)

Ooh, FANTASTIC news! Thanks to both of you for confirming this!
I think "transfer" is talking about the Wii U transfer. Meaning, it has nothing to do with online data. LostWinds is an example of save data + software that can't be transferred.
So we have confirmation that online games can be transferred and keep save data?
Yes. All game saves will transfer as long as they are in the Wii's internal memory.
Awesome, thank you.
Oh, great news! Now I can transfer without worries.
I also need to know: do you need a new friend code or keep the old one, can you still play online? What happens to the online stuff, can anyone confirm anything about this? (wait, can you play Wii games online on the Wii U at all?) I'll probably transfer anyway if my Brawl/Mario Kart saves are safe, that was the one thing potentially keeping me from the transfer.
If it's everything on the System Memory, guess I'll just lose my Brawl photos on the SD and the rest will be there. (Which reminds me, gotta get my VC stuff over to the console... kind of regret saving them all on my SD now)
Seems the only problem is Lostwinds, which I don't have anyway.
