Basically he said that Call of Duty sold miserably on the Wii U, He thinks the system is similar to the DS, he got fatigue from Gamepad and believed the Wii U will fail to do any prosperity compared to the Wii and might see failure when 360 and PS3 successors come in

again... the Hardcore Gamers are to blame

Who keeps down voting Pachter? I agree with him, he is also entitled to his own opinion.

He honestly didn't really say anything too bad, in fact I personally agree with some of his statements about the system.

He does say some mighty stupid sh*t at times, but I thought this was rather mild and level-headed of him.

Have you been listening to me Pachter?...

There's way too many factors, however the thing about COD only hitting 5% isn't really surprising. The game launched 5 days earlier on other consoles, Nintendo's online wasn't popular at the time (and majority of players play online), and majority of people are going to buy it where they play with friends. The Wii U being such a new system, majority have more friends on the other online communities. It's not a must-have game title for the Wii U either.

That's potentially going to be a problem not just for Nintendo, but for other consoles if the 360/PS3 continues seeing support after newer consoles are released. It's going to be harder to convince people to upgrade if games they want still see release on older consoles- and games like Halo and Killzone aren't necessarily going to be system sellers (the negative response from Halo 4 as a "meh" game and Killzone sales not doing as well as expected show potential gamer fatigue in both franchises).

Nintendo could steal the show this year if they show a lot more unique titles than the sequels we're getting a lot of from Microsoft and Sony this generation. Gamer fatigue killed the Guitar Hero franchise, and I can see this happening again even to games that come out every 2 years. The COD franchise has a big online following like Madden, and people will buy the titles no matter what as they are all in a similar vain.

The console horse race bores me. My Wii U is awesome. How's yours? I want Nintendo to succeed, obviously, but I could care less if they get the blue ribbon from financial analysts, game journalists, indie developers and most third party developers.
The popularity of the Call of Duty games gives me the heebie-jeebies. (Who's with me? Anyone? Anyone? Nevermind.) It's all so Bush-era; paranoid, empirical and creatively lacking. To me Call of Duty looks like the daily 2 Minute Hate in Orwell's 1984. The fact that Black Ops 2 didn't sell well on the Wii U gives me hope for mankind. The fact that it is the barometer for success in business says more about the barometer than it does Nintendo.
What can I say? Sometimes pop culture is with you and sometimes it leaves you at the curb. There's me on the curb waving at the kids in the bus, the ones desperately trying to fill the holes in their deflated sense of masculinity. Have fun you guys! I'll catch up with you when the Wonderful 101 comes out.

Missle me bucko
This is why i am depressed that Hardcore gamers dictate the retail scene here in the United States as the stuff THEY like is over-saturating the market plus let us not forget E3 of last year

Well.... I don't have problems using the gamepad. Maybe my set-up is better for it?

Yeah, when using the gamepad a lot while holding it up can get frustrating, but the only time do that must be in ZombiU when I scan, and even then have the option to use the right analogue stick. But that's not as much fun nor as immersive. But it really isn't THAT tiring. Come on, it doesn't weigh too much. Might be my training that makes me handle it with ease though haha. But I so understand that t can be too much it it must be used all the time like that, just I don't.

I usually play Trine2 mostly on the pad alone for some odd reason. Might be the fact that still don't have an HD TV, and the screen on the pad has higher res. The game is so darn good looking. Will get an HD TV next month though ;)

CoD? am actually thinking of getting this for the U. The simple reasons are: I can use the Wimmote/Nunchuck set-up which s my favourite way of playing FPS games, less gamers yet still enough for some good gaming means less brats who are gonna screw my momma AND I would support both the game and Nintendo. But I understand why people would rather have it on the PS360 since there are mllons of gamers on those compared to the tens of thousands on the Wi U. And they get NukeTown.

Mass Effect will NOT get for the Wi U since the two other consoles got the trilogy. What do they think? That Nintendo fans will purchase the cheap cash-in version? I got a 360 if I want the game (and I do), but hope they make a trilogy version for the Wii U also.

Oh well.... Will be curious as to what Nintendo has up their sleeves. Hope we get to see something before E3, even if that is just a teaser trailer of one single game! =)

There's no problem with people being entitled to their opinions... however,I would like to point out that there is often a substantial difference between a common-household-and-garden variety opinion, and an opinion that is informed. For quite some time now, I've not been convinced that Patcher's is of the latter variety.

I just think he often throws sh*t out there just to see what sticks, for by his own admission, his arithmetic is bad. :P

Super Missile man, I often agree with you, especially when it comes to a certain series we both love. But that one caught me off-guard:

Super Missile wrote:The fact that it [Black Ops 2] is the barometer for success in business says more about the barometer than it does about Nintendo.

This is so true on so many levels.

However, unfortunately, Nintendo needs at least a little bit of the industry and analysts seal of approval to keep going and gain more interest from investors and third parties.

so when put through the pachter to reality converter
Basically Call of Duty sold well on the Wii U, the system is different than the DS, the Gampad got fatigue from him and the Wii U will become prosperous compared to the Wii and might see great success when 360 and PS3 successors come in

wow... great news

No seriously, Hardcore gamers are slowly killing the US video game industry

Here are the key factors
1. Last Year's E3
2. Retail is over saturated of games of THEIR liking leaving original IP no chance of prosperity
3. 3rd Party tend to kiss butt of them instead of making games that cater to others (especially for the Wii U)

He makes a some very good points... I particularly agree with how annoying the transition from looking from the Upad to the TV is.
