Sakurai explains Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS' trickle of info, why we have to wait for E3

The following information comes from Masahiro Sakurai's Twitter account...

- announcements like Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS would usually be accompanied by a trailer, but the team wanted to keep gamers patient while waiting for E3
- this is why they put out just a limited announcement
- Sakurai says E3 will come with a much better announcement
- the plan is to show off both the Wii U and 3DS versions at E3

Also worth noting, Sakurai exchanged tweets with Pokemon director Junichi Masada. The pair discussed how they're looking forward to seeing/hearing more about each other's games (Smash Bros. and Pokemon X/Y) at E3.

Screw Mario Wii-U, Mario Kart, WW, New Zelda, Yarn Yoshi, 3DS, etc. Nintendo will win E3 with just a Screen of Smash Bros.

And... a Trailer? Really?

New Mario Kart, New Mario game, New Zelda game, Smash Bros trailer to be shown... all at E3 plus probably more surprises. Nintendo already won E3...

I sincerely hope we get a Japan Time/Smash Dojo again.

Stay up until 2am to find out Gooey Bombs are back, and tripping. Best ever.

E3 suprises include Retro's Project, and whatever else Nintendo has teamed/funded up to make...Wishing for a Nintendo X Capcom.

Well, I think it's the right time for a trailer. By E3 2013 they will have announced the game two years previously, so I think a trailer should be alright by now!

@mariomaniac45213 Well, yeah. No one does E3 showcases with screens. :P

@MoldyClay Hopefully it won't spoil the whole game and will be weekly this time...

I wonder what the XY equivalent of Lucario and Zoroark will be [AKA the new Pokemon SSB4 rep that isn't the return of Mewtwo]?

I hope the Pkmn Trainer will be replaced by a 6th gen Trainer with the starters in a similar way the first trainer had. ^^ And then another, stand-alone Pokémon character. And Meowth...

And Ridley, and Ghirahim, and Bowser Jr, and and and!!!

Couldn't resist.

I say this everytime we hear something about SSB4. I'll continue to say it...if King K.Rool isn't playable in this one someone at Nintendo is gonna get falcon punched in the face!

If they do, I'll ignore it this time, I want to be surprised about the contents of the next two Smash Bros games when I get them.

I really hope the Dojo returns. I loved it. Of course, it did spoil most things for me, but as long as I stay away when the 'Spoiler Updates' comes, I guess It will be fine.

And, even if it's just a Teaser Trailer, I hope it will show a few New characters<3

...

I really can't wait for E3 now.

Likewise, but I'm hoping for bigger perhaps Bi-weekly updates instead of 5 times a week, the amount of times I'd log on before school go to the Dojo and just think "HEY GUYS, LOOK, FRIEND CODES, YOU MUST RECOVER, YOU CAN CLIMB LADDERS" just put a real downer on that early morning buzz

Although I could really see Iwata saying "For the first time ever, here is the first screen from SUPER SMASH BROTHERS 4!", getting tremendous applause, and then moving on.

And also, am I the only one who could see the E3 surprise of Nintendo lying to us about SSB's development progress this whole time to announce that the game comes out this holiday season? Unlikely, but I'm pretty sure they would win both E3 and the Christmas season with that kind of announcement.

Not for this year, but for Fall / Winter next year I think, yes - SSB4 is further along than we all think methinks also [remember Brawl was made by one team, this has Namco and Sakurai's team working on it].

I hope this game doesn't suck as much as brawl did..with tripping and all the lame crap make a game fun for everyone like melee and n64 smashes. I hope i don't have to buy both games as well.

Tripping can be annoying (especially with Luigi), but I'd say Brawl was many times more fun and better than Melee (and espesially the N64 one).

I doubt Sakurai would make SSB4 more like Melee, so I'm happy with that~ ^^

And of course you'll never have to buy them both.

brawl was the worse in the series for me if it is slow as brawl and dumbed down as brawl i'm trading in my wiiU and the game.

Whatever they show, I hope a downloadable version of both makes it to both eShops.
I hope the Smash Bros. Dojo returns as well, yes, it spolied things but only after Brawl's Japanese release, besides, no one forced you/us to look at the site every day/night/2am, if it spoils the game for you, it's your own fault.

I'm trying to think what can Sony and Microsoft do to trump Nintendo at E3 but I can't think of anything...

Dumbed down? Brawl had way more of everything. The character's were more fleshed out, more stages, more items, more modes, more everything. As for the speed just set the speed to x2 if you for some reason had a problem with it.

Just because you don't like it, it doesn't mean it was 'dumbed down'. ^^" Kinda what BitBlock said.

You could at least say 'I think that Brawl sucked' instead of stating that as fact...
